Hesoca, hit the nail on the head again. Wall-e is the good example. People are just a resource to exploit, and since the world is soon to come to an end, Vygorns stopped caring about the strength of human-kind. The planet is dieing. It is not simply on the verge of collapsing, it IS collapsing.
It will be explained in detail on the IC as your characters find out what's going on ;)
