Considering the sector is oppressed... Nah. Civvies. Civvies you're trying to keep free.
Plus he's not on a planet.
He's in orbit.
Heh.

What exactly is the facility like? Is it connected to planet in any way? If so, how well guarded are the space elevators and such that would likely serve as the connection? Is the facility militarized? Do we have access to blueprints for it? Are there any regular supply shipments/pick ups?

It's connected to the one of the larger asteroids on the planets inner ring.
We're inserting directly in at area-14 in the left corner. The dropship / Corvette is fitted with gear to quietly insert teams into facilities through an otherwise solid hull.

We have an unnoticed direct insert?

We have an unnoticed direct insert. This time. This won't always be the case though. We're keeping it easy for the first mission.

Alright. I figured we would have to figure out ways in. This works too. :)

Name: Dying Star

Race: Riftosian

Physical Characteristics and Appearance: Dying Star most often assembles itself into a roughly humanoid figure of varying size and solidity. It does not have a strict gender, but its voice is typically pitched as a low, husky alto. Dying Star arranges its components to absorb light during covert operations, appearing as an silent, looming shadow. In friendly company, it becomes luminescent, emitting light in a wide variety of colors. The more relaxed or exhausted Dying Star is, the more indistinct its figure becomes.

Background Information:

Equipment: Dying Star does not carry weapons or other equipment, although it is more than capable of handling weaponry if the situation calls for it. Dying Star’s killing technique relies on it getting the drop on its opponent and quickly dispatching him, typically through asphyxiation.

Unique Abilities: In addition to the more common Riftosian talents for camouflage and near-instantaneous travel over short distances, Dying Star has achieved an unusually high degree of control over its physical form, allowing it to “flow” along the ground, “pour” itself into tight or otherwise inaccessible spaces, and dissipate its individual components for short amounts of time over small distances to avoid detection or damage. Dying Star’s ability also lends itself to one of the more unique and unsettling assassination techniques in the charted systems - entering an opponent’s body through various orifices and eviscerating him from the inside out while he suffocates. Dying Star is extraordinarily agile, able to shift and solidify its form at will, and can mimic a range of voices by vibrating its components at various frequencies.

Skillset: Dying Star specializes in infiltration, espionage, impersonation, and covert assassination.

Weaknesses: Like the rest of its kind, Dying Star is physically weak in comparison to other races and will find itself at a disadvantage if forced into hand-to-hand combat. Maintaining a form solid enough to inflict physical trauma consumes a considerable amount of energy and is extremely taxing on the entity if it is forced to remain corporeal for an extended period of time. Although it is possible for Dying Star to avoid blunt force trauma by rapidly dissipating and reassembling itself, damage from high-impact weapons, such as firearms, disrupt the conscious connection between its components and effectively “wound” it. Also, going without the low-grade radiation it relies on for nourishment for an extended period of time has the same effect on Dying Star as starvation in humans.

Oh good lord, I love Riftosians. So in. I'll add you to the OP.

So as far as I know now, we're waiting on The Chitin character, and Asuras also has expressed interest, but if anybody wants to start writing introductions and PMing them to me, you may.

It seems like Thalos is the only one who is somewhat sane on this vessel. So I think she would keep to herself for the most part.

The Shadow is completely sane, he even supports his mother... with the money he gets from killing people.

We could just set the asteroid to blow, knock it out of orbit towards the sun.

Just thinking about how Thalos will be involved in this one, apart from dropping people off.

I was planning to have a shuttle drop-off, but you will do the extraction. The Iron Hulk will autopilot it's way to the extraction point upon target termination, and you will fly us out. Also, you know, being in the facility doing some killing.

Name: Randel Himurr
Race: Vektei
Physical Characteristics and Appearance:

Background Information:

Equipment:

Unique Abilities:
  • "Four guns means not having to say I'm sorry!" - Randel can control up to four projectile weapons at the same time, though begins to sacrifice accuracy the more he uses.

  • Four Eyes! - With a greater width of sight, Randel is less easily startled or approached without detection. It also allows him to track multiple targets at the same time, much like a chameleon.

  • Crawlspace Mechanist - Randel is particularly adept at fitting himself into tight spaces and subsequently messing with or repairing hard-to-reach electronics and mechanical equipment. With four arms, he can manage several tools and objects at the same time, making for an adept engineer. Of course, he has to be relatively familiar with the technology before he can mess with it properly.

Skillset:
  • Engineering Expert

  • Akimbo - Excellent with multiple weapons at the same time, even compared to other Vekteins.

Weaknesses:
As a Vektein, Randel must be hooked up to the proper ventilation system in his suit lest he choke on the very air. Damaging one of these systems cripples him entirely, though he has become familiar with it enough that quick repairs could be made given some form of malleable supplies in the area. Despite the tough appearance most Vekteins put on, their kind is relatively weak for their size, subject to increased danger of skeletal breakage than human beings.

This is a definite WIP. I've deleted my CS about five times now, and I've got to go do some work. I just wanted to put something down so you at least knew I was trying. Apologies.

No worries! I know you'll get it finished soon. Looks good at it's current state though, i'm liking it. I would note that all those guns seem very loud. You can use them if you want, just bear in mind the obvious shortcomings of having loud weaponry. Other than that, I look forward to seeing the rest!

So tomorrow, here's the plan. I'm gonna go to work. I'm gonna come back, and i'm going to create two things: a bare OP so we can add character intros into it as they come, and at about 6pm GMT the first briefing post will go up and things can commence. This of course depends on the state of the remaining WIP CS', but yeah. That's the plan. (Not putting any pressure on the WIP CS', as you could theoretically hop into the mission at any time when you feel the CS is complete)

The shortcomings of loud weaponry are also their strong points. They attract attention away from alternative routes.
