Personality: John has two different personalities depending on what situation he is in. Usually he tries to keep cool and have a laugh with everyone but that can change very quickly if the situation turns dire. He usually acts rather serious during combat and prefers to take a slow safe option rather than a quick and dangerous one.
Biography: John was born in Leeds, England. The start of his life was a normal one. He went to a public school near his home and generally got good grades. His home life was pretty good, his older sister took care of him and his smaller brother up until the point where she moved out. As John grew he discovered an affinity for English and regularly read as much as possible. He studied English at university and went on to become an English teacher in a highschool near his hometown. Things got a bit rocky though when his brother died while in combat. He felt an enourmous amount of rage about his brothers death which sent him into a depression shortly after. He made the brash and hasty decision to join the UNSC marine core a few days after his brothers death, much to the protest of just about everyone except his brother. 

The training was brutal and a lot worse for John as the instructor had taken an innate disliking to 'his four eyed face'. John came out of it a better and stronger man though and was sent to the front lines to fight the covenant. He also met his soon to be wife during his training. They both went to the front lines together and essentially kept each other alive. He and Marie quickly excelled through the ranks and were eventually both promoted into the ODST. They quickly married just before joining the ODST. He used stealth and demolitions in most missions and became proficient with both while his wife was a bit louder and carried heavier weapons like shotguns and grenade launchers. His wife was killed on a mission to escort civillians off of a covenant invaded country. This sent John into yet another depression which he came out of a month before being promoted to sergeant.
