Instead most modern equipment uses tiny gear work and records data on sheets of metal (like a sim card) using micro-braille. The year for this is 2014, so if you want certain tech just ask. :) Whatever country has what we call the USA would most likely be an economic powerhouse since coal is still in high use, though alternatives such as nuclear and natural gas are on the rise. Oil is in low demand so by in large it is used only as a lubricant for the mechanical devices that make up the modern world.
