They moved in further inside the kitchen and Songbird had to admit that this little adventure was getting more unpleasant by the second. As if that horrible smell wasn’t enough, a patina of gloom and doom hung over the entire area, which made the item hunter feel like something was going to jump out from the shadows and devour him whole. Considering his previous associations with the creatures of the Dark Side, that was actually a pretty high probability.

Brandy walked away to inspect a few curious-looking jars and pans, so Songbird did the same to the ones beside him. Without so much as a care for what may lay inside, the white-haired nobody lifted the lid of the nearest pot and at once his senses were assailed by the stench of something he would never entirely forget.

The musk of rot and death wafted from within the rusted container, the source of which was a darkened lump of food… Or at least that was what he thought at first. Songbird tilted his glow jar closer to the pot, aiming the artificial torch so that the orange rays fell within to light up the mysterious object. The man narrowed his eyes as the lump shone under the lighting… only for his mouth to clench as more sordid details came into view.

One side of the lump was frayed and rotting, but the entire thing was .. white? Clumps of matted white fur dotted the thing all over, most especially at the tip. Honestly, everything in the pot was unrecognizable save for the occasional patches of fur… But Songbird was able to comprehend just what it was he was looking at when he shone the light from another angle.

A rabbit head was lying faceup on top of the mound of indistinguishable meat, possessing the same fur color as all the other pieces within the pot.

It was a bunny guard.

The item hunter’s jaw locked of its own volition and he slammed the lid down, startling Brandy who was now staring beyond him in silent dread. Songbird turned around too, and he found himself staring at a second message writ underneath the one the black bunny was looking at.
