Daniel had exited out the back, magic obfuscating his appearance so hopefully the agents wouldn't recognize him until he had slipped away. Not much of a hope, given that they could pierce the deception if they concentrated enough, but it was one. He took a circuitous path towards the entrance, hoping to throw off his pursuers before he arrived at the parking lot and either stole a car or hitched a ride with someone, to jump off later. For now though, he had to focus on getting out of here.

Much as he might want to think about the other mage he had met, Alexis had to deal by herself for now. Hopefully the Hunter Initiative thought he was the only mage here, and would focus on him. She seemed smart enough to fend for herself, so he would have to hope that she could do much that. He couldn't spare more thought since he was concentrating on keeping his magic up and getting out of here in one piece.

Sadly, it seemed that that wasn't an option as he approached the ticket booth in front, to find her friend (Chelsea, wasn't it?) waiting there, pacing about and a bit anxious. He dropped the spell for the moment, after making sure there weren't any agents or plainclothesmen around, and approached Chelsea. "Hello again," he said with a self confident grin. "You look lost." He noted that Alexis wasn't around, but didn't comment on that for the moment. Maybe she was off doing something else right now. It was a circus after all. No need to worry just yet.

"This Chelsea is the friend you came with no doubt, correct?"

She didn't answer.

The older man grunted and began to pace before suddenly stopping and motioned back to the cellphone.
"Send her a text message. Ask her if she knows where the magician is," he paused before quickly adding, "and do it like the young kids do it now-a-days. Make it convincing."

The other began to type a message and hit send.

~ ~ ~

Chelsea paced nervously as the magician approached and commented on her state.

"Something is wrong! Alex is gone!" she paced animatedly. "She was waiting for me and when I came outside she was gone." Her words were quick between quick breathes and darting eyes. "She said something about having to leave and was really anxious about something."

She huffed, as her cellphone dinged, a text message.

got ur voice. Have u seen Gabriel Winchester around?

Confusion replaced worry on her face as she looked at the message. "That's strange." She looked up at the magician. "She's asking about you." Something didn't feel right about the whole situation and Chelsea even began to suspect the man standing before her.

"What did you two talk about? Why would she be asking about you?"

She gave him an estranged look as she readied to pull out something from her purse on a moment's notice. With one hand she typed back.

yea he's with me

~ ~ ~

The older man nodded slowly after being read the reply.
"Check that voicemail. It should have the location. Then find him. I'll watch this one."

Alex shifted uneasily running options through her head. She didn't have as well control as Mr Winchester did, but she knew she could manage to get out of her binds. The question was, What would she do after? What was the next step? Run? Run where? What would she tell Chelsea? Mama? Papa? Could she go back? Did they already know where she lived?
She watched as the other two left the room leaving her and the old man alone. She took a deep breath.

Daniel frowned, brow furrowing a bit when he heard that Alex was missing. While people certainly went missing at the circus (an unfortunate yet true fact), the circumstances of today left him with more than a guess as to the reason for her disappearance. So, either they had grabbed her for talking to him, or they knew she was a mage as well. The second option was a lot more dangerous for her than the first, if they thought she was an actual threat and she didn't sign on to their Initiative. Not that he knew what membership requirements were, but he could hazard a guess at what the outcome would be.

He looked on askance as Chelsea pulled out her phone, confusion written over her face as well as she looked form it to him, wondering what the text was about. It was a question that was rapidly answered. He would have stopped her from replying, yet it was too late for that. And he probably didn't want to discover what was in the bag that she was reaching for.

Now he had to try and explain this without getting tased or something. "She asked me about my tricks, I gave her an answer. Not a very detailed one, but it did give her some enlightenment," he replied simply. As for why she would be asking about me now, I don't know." He shrugged in affirmation. Yet he quickly found himself having to go on as he spotted the familiar sight of agents approaching, though he did have a bit of time. Thank goodness for the relatively straight rows of the fair.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to be on my way," he said, eschewing the plan to go to the parking lot and heading instead back into the circus, on a different vector. It was time for a change of plans it seemed. Rescue Alexis from the Hunter's, then make his escape.

The old man paced for several moments before beginning to shift through the contents of her purse again. Alex watched silently as her mind reeled on her options. He pulled out her driver's license and snapped a photo. She watched intently at his actions.

“What am I to you?” she finally asked as he slipped her ID back into her purse.

“You may not know us, and that is all well as far as I'm concerned. It is not our jobs to entertain your curiosity only to bring you into custody.”

“Oh what charges?!” she spat, a bit more bold now that she was one on one.

“On public endangerment,” he said as he then began to browse through her phone.

“Thats ridiculous! I ain't ever hurt anyone!”

“Yet,” he replied not bothering to look up.

“Since when was that how it worked?!”

“You would be wise to keep your mouth shut,” he snapped motioning to a pistol on his hip.

The pistol, however, did not appear to be a normal one. No. She's been around guns long enough to realize it was a dart gun. “You want us alive?”

“Well of course,” he replied as if the answer was obvious, “that would be preferable.”

Alexis tried to focus. She knew she had similar powers but nowhere the control her carnie counterpart possessed. Small flames began sprang from her hands starting to weaken her plastic bindings.

“For what purpose?” she asked, trying to keep him talking and distracted.

“Thats above my paygrade,” he said satisfied with his search of the phone.

The flames occasionally licked the skin on her arms causing her to wince. It would defiantly leave a small burn, but comparatively, it didn't matter. The bindings gave way with a soft snap.

Without wasting a second she grabbed the nearest object, a cheap folding chair and swung it at her captor striking him only partially unaware. It was enough. She struck him again, this time in the head, enough to stun him only for a second. Thats all she'd need. She reached for the gun at his hip and ripped it from the holster. It was indeed a dart gun. She fired the dart into his side and he slumped over.

Taking a second to catch her breath she took in what she had done. Never had she outburst like that before. As it sunk in it started to scare her that she was even capable of such a thing, but, it was him or her. She darted from the tent into the middle of the road and looked around. Where to go? What to do? They surely knew where she lived by now, so that didn't seem like a wise choice. Maybe her truck was still free? What about Chelsea? No, she couldn't know of this. She whirled around to the sun of someone approaching.

“Winchester...”

Daniel wouldn't say he was frantic. Instead, he walked with defined purpose, looking like he had somewhere to go, something to do. For normal people, that would keep them from bothering him, And it allowed him to move rapidly to avoid the Agent's, which was good. His eyes quested over the crowds rapidly, seeking Alexis, and also peaking into tent after tent, some occupied, some not, to try and see if he could spot her.

Fortunately, it seemed he didn't need to, eventually coming upon her standing in the middle of the dirt paths and looking quite confused by something. He wasn't sure what, but there was little time for that. Instead, he moved up rapidly, taking a hold of her arm and pulling her forward. "Hello again," he said, walking intently. "Change of plans, you're coming with me. Because I don't fancy secret government agents, and I'm sure you don't want a GPS tracker embedded in your skull." He wasn't sure if they would actually do that, but it sounded like something they would, and that was good enough.

He moved towards one of the exits, figuring to loop around to the parking lot or out into the countryside to make their escape. "Do you think we could use your car? It's either that or less savory methods like stowing away or hotwiring a car, and I don't really need 'Grand Theft Auto' added to my list of supposed crimes."He looked back, hoping she wasn't too traumatized or stunned to answer.

He closed the gap between them with great haste and pulled her arm.

"Changes of plans, you're coming with me."

She wasn't sure if it was the wisest to follow him or not. Yet, the alternative were suited agents who wanted her for God-only-knows-what and one in particular that is not going to be particularly happy when he wakes up. She wasn't prepared to face that. She'd take her chances with Winchester.

He led her down towards the parking lot, taking the long way of course, when he spoke. "Can we take your car?"

She nodded as she began to quickly lead him to her truck. She suddenly stopped, instinctively reaching for her keys. "Damn," she cursed, "They have all my things."

She looked at him and then at her truck. "You said you can hotwire?"

With a heave she opened the driver's door. The old hinges protested loudly. "Go ahead, hotwire it!" she pressed, as she kept her eyes peeled for anyone looking for them.

Daniel fell into step behind Alexis as she led him to her car, a truck actually. It would do in an escape, he admitted, though she didn't have her keys on her, as she announced, which was a bit of a problem. Still, the agents looking for them was a bigger problem, wasn't it. this, this was tame in comparison, if it wasn't so vital to their escape.

He nodded as she heaved the door open. "I can," he replied, hopping in the seat when she moved out of the way. It was another application of magic, not as draining as his illusions, but it still took it's toll. But with a click and a glow on the base of his palm a she laid it over the ignition, the car sprang to life. "Got it," he called, waiting for her to hop in or indicate for him to get out before they moved away and out of here. Now, more than ever, they had to be careful and focused on their escape.

Alex watched as Winchester hovered his hand over the ignition. Suddenly the engine sputtered to life and the radio began playing her favorite country station. She needed to learn these tricks. She could feel her spirits lift at the sound. She jumped in the passenger seat and nodded at him. He started to drive. As he moved she looked back around at the parking lot, and the collection of tents. She saw no one official.

"I think we're clear," she said as she began to relax and sink into the seat with a heavy sigh.

~ ~ ~

For a few miles she still remained vigilant on the watch but didn't see anything suspicious. Either they had shaken their pursuers, or they were being followed more covertly. She prayed for the prior. A couple more tense miles would pass before she was satisfied they were safe, for the moment anyways.

Her hair, once neatly combed and straight was now more like a frazzled orange mess against the seat, but she didn't care now. She rested her head on the back of the seat and looked it over to look at him as he drove.

"How long have they been after you?" she asked, her voice now much calmer, signs of fatigue beginning to arise. She feared the answer she might hear.

"Is Gabriel even your real name?"

She sighed and looked back at the road ahead the sound of one of her favorite songs softly playing from the radio.

...lay me down in a bed of roses,
Sink me in the river, at dawn,
Send me away with the words of a love song,
Oh oh...oh oh...

Alexis in the car, Daniel drove off and out of the parking lot, acting casual about it so as to not attract attention, making his way down the road with the occasional glance in the rear view mirror, until at last his passenger confirmed that they were in the clear. The radio he allowed to stay on, given that the music would be calming and he wasn't actually powering the car anyway. He could afford it being on.

He could feel himself fading, having used a lot of energy to do all that magic and now suffering for it. Adrenaline was keeping him going, but he'd need to rest, eat, or something, before he just dropped from exhaustion. There had to be a better way of doing magic than this. still, he didn't look too bad, a bit sweaty, clothes ruffled, a bit grimy as well, but otherwise, he was intact and that was a good thing.

Now that they were on the run together, or something, when she asked, he was willing to be a lot more forthcoming with answers. "About a year," he said with a shrug. "I haven't been running all that time, but I think it's been around that long." It was hard to remember, the days before those men showed up at his door, before he had this strange power. Like a distant life gone by.

At her next question, he shook his head. "No. that's a false identity. I'm really Daniel Saddler." He held out a hand as he drove towards...somewhere, anywhere away form the fair. "Pleasure to meet you."

"About a year."

She sighed at his response. She wanted to turn and look at the trees fly by but turned back to him as he spoke his real name, Daniel Saddler.

"Pleasure to meet you."

She reached for the outstretched hand and shook it. It was sweaty, but it wasn't a bother. She'd grown used to sweat.

"Alexis Fletcher, friends usually just call me Alex." His manners were quite admirable all things considered, "Likewise," she said with a faint smile, "wish it was under better circumstances."

She tried to manage a titter but it would prove elusive. She sighed as she looked back out at the window. Long days of hard work were nothing new to her, but she felt exhausted. She looked back over her shoulder at Daniel. He didn't look any better. They'd have to stop somewhere to rest before too long, maybe even take turns.

She looked back out the window at the landscape as they passed by, but her mind was far off the scenery. Was this her life now? Would she, or could she, run forever? What about Papa? He couldn't manage the herd by himself, not yet. What about Chance? They'll be so worried. What would they be told when she didn't come home?

She felt a flurry of emotions swell inside her and she just wanted to lash out. If Chelsea had never dragged her to that damn circus, if she never went into that damn magic show, if Daniel hadn't performed... Chelsea, Daniel either one she just wanted to lash out. Many venomous words came to mind. Yet, deep inside, she knew it wasn't their fault. Chelsea never knew, and Daniel... in retrospect, tried to keep her out of things.

Regardless, it was too late now, no matter who's fault it was or wasn't.

"I'm sorry," she finally said breaking a long silence, "I should've taken the hints to leave mysteries be. I just-" she sighed, "it was just so amazing to see someone that could do those things too, for real."

Their real introduction this time, Daniel found himself sharing the sentiment. Better circumstances would have been nice, though admittedly any circumstances were better than these. At least they didn't have the official authorities looking for the yet. Being labeled a terrorist or something like that wasn't exactly the thing you recovered from.

He drove on, sparing the occasional glance to his new passenger as he headed away from where they had been, and towards out of the state His mind was on more mundane affairs, such as money, supplies, where they would rest, where they would go that sort of thing. She, presumably, had nothing, and he had next to nothing since he couldn't get back to his motor home. He was increasingly turning to another option, though it was one he didn't relish. That was, leaving the country entirely and going to a country where the USA couldn't reach him altogether. But he wasn't sure if that was an option he wanted to try right now.

Drowsiness grew, but he forced himself to stay awake. Alexis speaking up helped there. "I'm not going to blame you for that," he said with a shrug. "I'd probably have done the same thing.if I were in your position." And that was true. "Well, now that we're in this, I guess I can help teach you what I know, so you can do more with your magic and do what you need to do if we ever part ways." Or if he got captured. But he left that unsaid.

Alex listened to his sincere reply. She could tell he meant every word. It was nice to hear, especially now that her life had completely changed in the span of only a couple hours. She managed to break a small smile tugging at her lips, but it was brief. Still, it happened. She looked back at the road noticing signs telling them how far different cities were. Most she had never heard of. Her family wasn't the traveling type.

"Where are we headed?"

She nodded slowly her eyes growing heavy as the adrenaline in her veins began to wane. She rubbed the small burns on her arm as they began to sting, but it wasn't too bad, she's had worse.

"If you need me to drive, just leave me know, okay?"

With that, she leaned her head against the window. Her breathing quickly evened out and she was asleep within only a matter of minutes.

Daniel drove on, attention divided between the road and his passenger, the thoughts racing through her mind similar to those he had had when this first occurred, though he didn't say as much at this moment. When she asked where they were going, he shrugged, still working on that question. "I'm not sure yet," he replied simply, beyond the fact that they seemed to be heading out of the state.

"Alright," he added, glancing over as she fell asleep against the window, rest doing some to ease the stress ad emotions that had played across her features so recently. He did notice the burns but didn't do anything about them at this point, not wanting to risk an accident by using too much energy. As it was, he only went on a bit longer before stopping o get some coffee from a Starbucks. The caffeine would help keep him awake as he drove on, figuring to put as much distance as possible between where they had come from as he could before pulling over to get some shuteye.

That was eventually what he did, parking in a secluded spot of forest that he had stumbled across and stopping the car in a clearing a bit away from the road. The doors were locked, the windows rolled up, and he reclined the seat back to get some rest as well. Looking over at Alexis seemed to reinforce the notion that she could use the rest, so he didn't feel like waking her. It would take the Hunter Initiative some time to find them, if they even knew where they were at this point, so he could afford to rest. Taking in some deep breathes, he fell into a deep, exhausted sleep.

“Daniel!”

Alexis ran down a long sterile featureless hallway pumping her arms for speed. Her attire had been replaced with a gown reminding her of one from a hospital. Dignity had no place here. Behind her ran two faceless men in finely pressed black suits, closing quickly with each passing stride. Blood pounded in her temples and sweat rolled down her face, its salty flavor falling to her lips.

“Daniel!”

Again, no response. He was nowhere. The only sounds that replied to her cries were the echoing strides of her perusers. She dared a glance backwards only to see them reaching for something at their hips. She didn't have to see what it was to know. She summoned the last bit of energy that remained to try and escape.

The end came into focus, a double door. Without second thought she burst through it only to skid to a halt.

The bitter chill of snowfall greeted her. It would've been bad enough even with the proper attire, the flimsy gown made it unbearable. All around her parked police cars and camouflage painted military vehicles surrounded her exit. Among these stood faceless police and soldiers, their weapons all trained on her. Red dots lit up her body. She whirled back to see her suited perusers stopped several steep behind her, their weapons now trained.

She felt tears well as well as anger build until it seemed like a volcano was about to erupt.

“WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!” she screamed feeling something strong well up within her.

Yet, just as soon as it had begun to build her body erupted in pain and her cries went silent. She felt her body buckle under its own weight, she could no longer muster the strength to stand. She fell into the snow as things began to dim.

I never knew I could be so cold...

~ ~ ~ ~

Alex burst awake with a small gasp.

Only a dream... she whispered, comforting herself.

It would be a second before she realized that the truck was no longer moving. She looked back at Daniel who was still sleeping. Her eyes then fell to the empty Starbucks cup in the console then to the outside. Where were they? Trees shot up all around them and the sunlight came down in golden strings from the canopy. The occasional sound of a passing car indicated they couldn't be too far from a road of some sort.

She wondered the time and even more how Chelsea and her family are doing. What would they be told?

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Jackson slammed two files down on the long conference table. The first and the largest file was labeled 'Daniel Saddler' with an all too familiar picture gracing the front. The second, and much smaller file was labeled 'Alexis Ann Fletcher', a photo of a blue-eyed girl with long orange hair graced the front. The table was lined with agents, five to a side, all dressed in fine attire. Notebooks, pencils, coffee cups, and various other documents were scattered among them.

“Glad everyone could make it this morning. I suppose everyone heard of the incident at the circus yesterday evening?”

The long table save a silent affirmative.

“An embarrassment,” one spoke up.

Jackson didn't argue that point. “Maybe so, but it did come with a silver lining.”

He clicked a remote and a large tv on the wall came alive. The logo flashed across the screen before less than a minute later Alexis's face stared at them.

“As some of you may know we tracked down Saddler to the county circus and we planned to make our capture. However, one thing we did not expect was to come across another mage. They made their escape after the girl bludgeoned one of our agents and tranquilized him with his own gun. They escaped in the girl's truck.”

A couple snickers bounced in the room as it was no mystery who that agent was. The large bruises on their supervisor's face made it more than apparent. Even Jackson fought back a titter.

“Here we have Alexis Ann Fletcher. Age 19. Born and raised on a cattle farm outside of Walsh. We questioned her friend, a-” he flipped open the small file and pointed to a spot on a paper, “ Miss Chelsea Rogers.” He looked back up at his audience who were jotting down notes, “She seemed worried and had no clue why she would leave her there. We asked her if she could describe the truck. All we can definitively get from her was that it was old, rusty, and blue. No make, model, or year.”

“Miss Fletcher has no history of trouble with the law. In fact in school she was almost always on the honor roll but never participated in after-school activities. Miss Rogers described her as a workaholic when it came to the family's farm.”

He rested his hands on the table and looked at his audience. “ We need to come up with a cover story in order to get help from local authorities without getting them too involved. She doesn't fit the description of a runaway so that is off the table.”

One finely dressed woman raised her hand, “Claim that Saddler abducted her and send out a kidnapping alert. Say Saddler is armed and dangerous. I might even instruct authorities to merely follow and not attempt arrest. That should keep the secret on the down. Meanwhile we question friend and family and treat it like a kidnapping.”

A couple head nodded in agreement as Jackson rubbed his smooth chin. “I like it. Anyone else object or got suggestions?”

Daniel didn't dream, not really. It was the sleep of the exhausted, free from distraction as his body focused on recuperating from the huge energy expenditure and what he'd been through. As it was, the bad dreams that came with the Hunters had passed him by a while ago, and now he slept calmly, quietly, almost like the sleep of the dead, if one couldn't see the rise and fall of his chest, and hear his breathing.

At last he awoke though, eyes blinking open to find himself in the truck, neck hurting a bit from the position he had fallen asleep in, and Alex already awake and looking at him. "Good morning," he said as he straightened up and rotated his head, working the kinks out of his back and neck. "Sorry I didn't wake you, but you looked like you needed the rest, and I didn't want to disturb you," he explained as he took stock of their surroundings and planned out what to do next.

Daniel roused from his slumber. Nightmares seemed not to effect him, or if they did, he didn't show it.

“Good Morning,” she replied a small smile tugged at her lips, “I wish you would've. You don't need to run yourself into the ground on my behalf.”

In all honesty, she was glad she got to sleep, however restless it may have been. Still, he is only human and needed his rest too. Alex looked around at their surroundings and then back at him with waiting eyes. Daniel apparently had experience in being on the run. She didn't know what to do. How far should they go? She didn't know. He seemed to be formulating a plan.

“What do we do now?”

~ ~ ~ ~

The morning was warm as the sun cast down its rays upon the fields. Rex, and his wife, Barbra sat on the front porch in rocking chairs. Despite the bright start to the day this day would prove anything but. Late last night they received news from Chelsea that their daughter went missing.

Their eyes fell upon a black sedan that pulled into the long gravel driveway and stopped just affront the porch. Two suited men got out and approached.

Under any other circumstances Rex might have reached for his gun, but he knew their purpose here. They flashed their badges. “Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher, we are with the police and we wanted to ask you a few questions about your daughter.”

Barbra's hand reached for her husband's as he nodded for them to sit and get comfortable.

“Anything we can do.”

Rex was an ageing man, his salt and pepper hair thinning in the front and his usual attire, of dirty overalls had certainly seen better days. His skin was tanned from years of toil and his wrinkles starting to become more apparent. His health was starting to improve, albeit he will have to use his cane for the remainder of his life. He was a proud man. Proud of his family and what little they did have. Still, even his pride wouldn't stop tears as they began to bombard them with questions and possibilities.

Daniel shrugged at her protest, weak as it was. he hadn't really minded that much. "Don't worry about it," he replied. It wasn't the first time he'd had a long, sleepless night. There was no need to mention that though,. For the moment, there were several things to do. He eased the seat back up as he worked his hands, not putting them on the wheel just yet.

To her question, he had an easy response. "Well first, we need to ditch the truck." No offense," he said, looking her way as if attempting to placate her. "But they know what it looks like, and it's too risky. Then some food would be nice, and we need to get some cash if possible. And then, just need to decide where to go." He made it sound that easy, like he'd done it before, which he probably had, but there was likely more detail involved than he seemed to imply. But he was trying to keep her calm, so hopefully it would do the trick.

She shrugged at his 'no offense' comment. There was none to be taken, but she figured he was just being polite. She knew that the need would come. It was just a truck. He went on to suggest food and money. Food especially sounded nice about now, her stomach was already beginning to protest.

Well that sounded straight-forward enough, but how he planned to go about that was another matter. All her money was left in her purse, which her would-be captors now undoubtedly possessed and she had no experience in life on the run. For now, she'd have to put her faith in his ability to know what to do. Still, maybe all the time she would now have on her hands would allow her to learn a few tricks from the magician she now accompanied. Maybe they could make some money off of that? Find another circus? She sighed at the thought; nowhere in her life did she expect to have that on her list for a prospective job. If all else failed they might be able to make money as a farmhand or something. That was right up her alley, although she doubted Daniel was keen to such an idea. Still, money was money no matter how they planned to make it.

He mentioned on not knowing where to go next and that concerned her. "Well, is there anywhere you always wanted to go? Just go there." She shrugged. Maybe the question was idealistic and naïve, in fact, she was secretly sure it was after she heard it. She wished she could take it back but instead kept quiet.

Her comment on where to go made Daniel chuckle aloud, not because it was a bad idea persay, but because it wasn't something he would have expected from an answer. "Well, if I went somewhere I always wanted to go, then they might be waiting for me there, if they've gone to the trouble of doing their research, which I have to assume a government agency has," he replied as he started the truck again, slowly driving forward until they were back on the road and driving off. It was a bit of driving more until they crossed the border into Kansas.

It was here, in the outskirts of the city of Colby, that he pulled to a stop in a random parking lot, turning off the truck and getting out, both to stretch his legs and to look around. There were some fast food places nearby, a few stores, nothing too fancy. The sky was studded with clouds and there was a wind, but overall it wasn't too bad a day. The place they were was a dirty though, mostly from neglect, and more often than not it was just cars driving past rather than stopping.

He looked over their options as he stretched his legs with a bit of walking. "So, have any preference on breakfast," he asked Alexis with a grin.

His chuckle and reasoning confirmed her suspicion that her idea was idealistic and foolish. She felt her face redden from embarrassment. She turned to look out the window to hide it. "I suppose you're right," she admitted. She allowed her mind to wander a bit on the subject. Maybe one day she'll get the opportunity to see places she's always wanted to see.

Alex watched as they drove on. Eventually they would pass a large sign with giant words 'Welcome to Kansas.' Not far into Kansas they stopped at a rather dirty-looking place. Several small chain restaurants and stores lay scattered about. They stepped out of the truck and onto the pavement. Apparently Daniel had the same idea when it came to wishing to stretch his legs. She too stretched her cramped muscles and breathed a sigh of relief as she could almost feel the blood starting to flow again.

"So, any preference on breakfast?"

She shook her head, "Not really," she said sheepishly. This was certainly different. Never had she been in such a situation she would be so reliant on someone else. She didn't like the feeling. Daniel, however, seemed quite alright with everything. If he did mind he certainly didn't show it. Still, she'd have to find a way to support herself, and she'd have to learn fast.

"Whatever is fine," she added truthfully. She was hungry and it didn't matter what was on the menu.

A burst of wind caught her off-guard as she looked about, throwing her hair wildly around. With a huff she pulled open the passenger side door and shuffled through the glove box.  After a moment of rustling around some various papers and the like she pulled out a stray hairband.

Smiling sheepishly she pulled her hair back into a heavy ponytail, "Much better." She looked back at him, "Do you think they'll be looking for us out this far?"
