Ok, that makes more sense but still doesn't remove the issue, which is that your character, who has no super-speed according to his bio, was able to think and react to a body slam in between the time that it touched him and the time that it took for the force of Arty's momentum to be transferred into Adrian. Anyone short of the flash is too slow to do that, and even magical spikes don't form instantly, and that's also assuming that Adrian would still have the presence of mind to summon the spikes immediately after being body-slammed at super-human speeds (if you've ever been body-slammed you'd know how hard it is to think tactically during and right after, much less breath easily). Mass is also a factor in any collision, and since Adrian only weighs 195 pounds (which I assume includes his wings), Arty at 220 pounds has more mass and would more than double the amount of weight they have to support. The point I'm getting at is that the force of the collision will affect Adrian long before he has a chance to summon the spikes, if he even retains the clarity of thought that would be necessary to summon them. He wouldn't even have enough time to smile.
