It's not that the age is that big of a deal, it's just realistically, would a 10 year old be able to be a champion who might be in his late teens and above in raising, training, and battling Pokemon? I know there's luck and whatnot, but it just wouldn't happen realistically in my honest opinion.
And as for Latios, I believe there was a trainer who had one in the anime, but again, having a legendary at such a young age, I'd like to think you'd have to spend a long time searching for one to actually find it or obtain it.

@Sketcher: Iron looks great, the only thing that bothers me is that you want A LOT of Pokemon who can Mega Evolve. I don't have a problem with Mega Evolution, but I'd like to think each trainer would have ONE per team. I mean, you can keep those Pokemon, but let's try to limit it to ONE Pokemon who can mega evolve in a party.
