Zeke has cloudy, almost-white blue eyes caused by his blindness and is built in a toned, tall sort of way because he spent much of his childhood around the water. Typically, he will cover his eyes with a pair of sunglasses to hide his disability and physically protect his eyes. His skin is rather pale, considering the time he spends outside, because of the time he spends shaded and his preference for the night and early hours of the morning. On his right shoulder, from the front, one can see the Mark of Arceus.

Personality: Zeke is a motivated and headstrong trainer. He likes to push his partners to their limits without going beyond them. He feels his strongest when the moon is out, as he loves the cooler air of the night and the serenity it brings. His outlook tends to be rather upbeat and he’s always excited to learn something new. His entire being revolves around the protection of Pokémon as well as people who need help and, if necessary, finding justice for those wronged. He has an inquisitive mind, though he’s far from being any kind of skilled scientific or strategic thinker. Above all, he is a passionate and caring soul. However, this can cause discrepancy because he can have a tendency to lose the logical side of him.

Special Abilities/Traits/Attributes: Ezekiel is a very strong swimmer. Speed and reflexes are big parts of his physical capabilities. He may not have any expertise with weapons, but he makes up for it with strong skills for escaping and tiring out enemies with his endurance despite his disability, his Aura abilities give him the chance to react, even if he doesn’t know what’s coming, he [I]does[/I] know when to move and how to defend himself using it. His experience with exploring has also given him rather impressive coordination, all things considered.

History: Zeke was born as an only child in the village of Pacifidlog and did not take long to show that he was special. He was able to keep himself afloat in the water shortly after he learned to walk without hobbling. Even so, when he was barely five, his mother almost fell off one of the floating bridges between houses in town when she saw him looking at a wild Tentacool over the edge of a platform. She thought it was going to pull him under or he would fall off until she got closer and heard him talking to it. While the scene was quite bizarre, she figured it was just childish imagination. His father worked in Sootopolis and was not always home, but Zeke never felt ignored or unloved nor was ungrateful for it, especially after being named a Guardian. 

His mother had a Totodile who lived with them since he was very young. It had never been taken by a ball because both his father and mother had already filled theirs and were far from willing to part with any of their Pokémon. However, he refused to let them leave it behind one day when they were visiting his grandpa in Cianwood City in Johto. The poor thing was found on shore and Zeke was nearly in tears when his father suggested they leave him in the care of the small, local hospital. When it was discharged, it was clearly willing to follow them home, and so long as it wasn’t being held against its will or placed in an illegal extra Pokéball, they could have the alligator Pokémon.

Years later, around when he was eight, Zeke’s mother turned her back for only a moment while she was doing laundry and the young boy found himself leaning too closely to the edge of the platform which held their home afloat. It happened to quickly, he lost his balance when he leaned forward, his hands slipping from the edge, and fell into the water. In a panic, he knows he thrashed about and his head hit the platform. Everything went black and he woke what seemed like seconds later, coughing and sputtering, his father hovering over him, hands on the boy’s chest. However, the light never graced his eyes again. He had been rendered permanently blind without hope to recover due to the blow to his head. He was taken to a hospital in Lilycove where the doctors examined him psychologically and physically, telling his parents how lucky he was to have no permanent lung damage and to be alive.

After he turned eleven, Zeke’s once passive care for Pokémon and protection started to become a true, burning passion. His mother found the mark on his shoulder one day when he was getting ready to go swimming, an activity that he would have never returned to had it not been such a big part of his life and his Totodile not such a loving companion. It was not long before the man he would come to know as the Elder came knocking on their door with the anomaly that is Mew. Soon, he was off to Faraway Island, much to the dismay of his mother and extreme pride of his father. While many of the trainees had parents that would visit them on the island, his were among the most common.

In his time at Faraway Island, Zeke focused his training on his love for rescuing and connecting with Pokémon. He knows how to identify threats and survey areas. His friendly disposition certainly made him a popular one amongst his fellow Guardians and his respectful attitude made him well-liked among teachers, but that doesn’t mean he was thought of by everybody as perfect. In fact, his stubbornness for what he believed in and rash attitude could be a volatile combination when they would leave the island and head to the mainland.

While he still cannot see, the boy showed an affinity for manipulating Aura. He dove into the studies, finding that the connection to the world was so powerful and natural that it was almost like he had found his sight again. He still couldn’t do things like swim without supervision and help, but he gradually stopped doing things like bumping into tables, his cane is rarely ever in his hand anymore.

History: Feraligatr joined Zeke when the boy was only five. He was attacked off the shore of Cianwood and was weak when he washed up. Thanks to the boy’s incessant argument against his parents, they took it home with them when it was back to full health. After this, the Pokémon stayed with them until Zeke was given the ability to officially pair with him. He was rather surprised to find Zeke’s ability to speak with him and had absolutely no issue staying.

History: Kraft was once amongst the most wild of Sneasel on Mount Silver. She’s a survivor and a fighter through and through, her senses honed by the dangerous life on that terrifying mountain. However, long ago, she had been paired with a loving, headstrong Ranger who worked to protect civilians on the mountain. Sadly, the Ranger died and Sneasel found its way into the adoption system. She tried returning to the wild, but everything felt different somehow. It took years, no trainer would keep her, on the off chance they even tried, because of her stubbornness. Zeke didn’t pick her, she picked him, and he was happy to take her upon her request. For the Guardians, going to an adoption center is hard because all of the Pokémon are naturally attracted to joining their team, Kraft stood out the most as one who was up to the job. She was his fourth partner.

History: A Vulpix when she paired with Zeke, she was found with an injury in the caves south of Violet City. Despite her clearly wounded leg, she stood and faced off against the Guardian with vigor in her eyes to protect a small Zubat who had been attacked by another Pokémon. That is, until he spoke to her and reassured her that they could both be taken to safety. She joined him after ensuring the Zubat’s safety. Flair is likely the Pokémon that Zeke’s mother loves most simply because she has a matronly and extremely protective air about her. Flair was Zeke’s third partner.

History: Vibrava paired with Zeke in the deserts of Hoenn. He is the most recent of Zeke’s partners and was in his current form when the two of them met. At some point, Zeke had been separated from any others who had accompanied him and was entirely lost in the whipping sands. It was one of the most debilitating experiences of his life, considering the terrain. Despite his adventurous attitude, his team was not familiar with the biome and he didn’t feel comfortable letting them out for help. He called for help and was met by the Vibrava who was more than willing to help him find his group. As it turned out, the young Pokémon was quite excitable and was ecstatic to pair with the Guardian without giving it a second thought.

History: Xavier was Zeke’s second Pokémon, a Riolu which he hatched from an Egg. His Aura instructor, Nathan Amsel, gave it to him when he started his training. Because of the species’ natural affinity for Aura, they could both learn alongside one another as well as [I]from[/I] each other. He needed a lot of help caring for the egg and for the resulting baby Riolu that hatched from it. However, once it grew enough, they were inseparable in their meditation and Aura practice.
