Shimi Shimi was, by happenstance, at that same bookstore - at least as much as happenstance as that could be. There were very book stores in the 'world' and very few private sellers. Shimi frequented the establishment rather frequently, actually having a credit line at the store equal to that of many small businesses. Like usual, Shimi had a managed to empty the equivalent of two large shelves of book, most of them piled at the register, to the point they almost blocked out its presence. She herself carried an abnormally large number of books, stacked precariously on top of each other. If she hadn't had the gift she had, it would have been impossible for her to carry the stack of books that was well taller than her. She was also not above audible commentary on her finds. After a long gasp, she exclaimed, "McAffrey's Dragonsong!" Grabbing it off the shelf with a sharp, quick motion before throwing it upwards to stack it up on top of her pile of books. "101 Quick French Recipes! Live Better: Feng Shui for a Better Life!" Her eyes were wide, glossed over with sheer excitement. Behind her, the man at the register, presumably the owner shook his head. He like books himself, but Shimi's adoration was beyond obsession and on some levels seemed to disturb the man. Shimi, obviously, was oblivious to people's either confusion or alarm over her obsession. "Edwind," she shouted, "When are you getting new merchandise in?" "Sometime later this week," he responded gruffly, then mumbling a comment about how he wouldn't have to order so much merchandise and stock it if she'd let a book sit on his shelves for longer than a day or so. The only books that Shimi didn't pull off the shelves were duplicates and only duplicates that were later editions than what she already owned. In her warehouse, she had about 30 copies of collections of Shakespere. "I can't wait!" she responded, her voice almost shrieking with excitement.
