I always recommend it to people in HP games. Definitely a more-than-competent companion piece to the original Rowling books, incorporating enough that it feels like it takes place in the same universe, but adding so much interesting culture and new interpretations of magic, not to mention a good narrative, that it's almost a must-read for Harry Potter fans. :) I'll just say to give the first book a shot, and that it only gets better from there.)
