Backstory/Personality: She was around nine years old when the apocalypse happened. Before then, she had been a gifted student, although a slight know-it-all/showoff. Her dad worked in a hospital, so he passed on a lot of information to her as she was naturally curious and asked many questions. Her mother taught her to sew, and she generally had a great life before the outbreak occurred. When it did, her mother fell ill, but Miriam was lucky enough that she never saw her mother in the "undead" state. Her father had been forced to slice off his spouse's head while Miriam was hurrying home from school, running from small groups of bitten victims. When she got home, he whisked her away before she could ask what happened and he drove them out of the city, continuing the escape until he ran out of gas. With their tiny amount of precious supplies, especially food and water, a group of people tracked them down after about a week or so of car-camping in a somewhat-hidden rural area. After refusing to give up their provisions, Miriam's father was brutally murdered while she was on her way back from getting water from a nearby stream; after seeing his body and realizing that their food supply was gone, she took the only thing that he still had: his knife. After that she left and continued traveling on foot until she found the Sanctuary settlement. She still likes to show off her knowledge, but she's nowhere as talkative as she was as a child, and although she is loyal, she has trust issues around strangers and a little bit of trouble warming up to people. Still, she's cheerful most of the time, grateful that she's survived so much, and spends a little too much time explaining science or health-related things. She hates fighting and confrontations, and would rather hide. She collects books and loves to read, as it reminds her of the "good days".
