I'll likely go something Federation -esque, not sure whether to go TNG Trek, or nuTrek.

TNG ship is not totally canon, but near enough to an Excelsior, Ingram class, and is actually a carrier, so it has fighters. Or Constitution from nuTrek, although that would mean totally ridiculous FTL speeds.
