Well, now looking at everything else here, I seem to have myself a few problems. Because of how FTL's mechanics work, the Osprey is far different than everyone else's crafts in a few ways, namely far less potential firepower. The Osprey can only ever have 5 weapons at a time (which is still more that every other ship in FTL), whereas these other player ships end up with at least 12 different weapons each, or so. And compared to the size and shielding of many other ships, I may not really have a lot of stopping power, also considering I can only let off good weapon volleys every 15 seconds. Plus, there is not anywhere close to a large comprehensive story in FTL. Among other things, this means I have no real idea what era I'll end up hailing from. The way I see it, the only real edge I get seems to be from my twin-missile launchers and my shield-piercing main beam. The beam itself doesn't have a high yield, so I wouldn't classify it as a planet-buster weapon, or even entirely a ship-buster. I had intended for my ship to be as purist as I could keep it, but it looks like I'll have to end up breaking the inherent rules set by FTL. Not that it's a complaint on my part, I just see it as necessary to put the Osprey on a scale where it will stand a decent solo chance against something like, say, an Imperial Star Destroyer. So with that in mind, would opportunities to upgrade the Osprey even beyond its normal scope be acceptable?
