Heh, except Violet's Starfire would be more interested in a canon Raven.

I know this is unrelated, but I actually dislike it when the user's own personal preferences becomes the only preferences their characters have. But anyway Ill go back to working on the Batpost.

Some people just aren't comfortable writing a sexuality outside of their own, heck, that's the main reason I've never made an outright homosexual character, that and my fear of misrepresenting that community or whatever the hell. Granted I could take any character I've made and just poof them into being gay without altering their personality at all, but there's just something that prevents me from doing it.

But Starfire makes more sense as a bisexual than a lesbian but nobody cares about my opinion so.

We did give people the choice to reinvent the character. Thus we have to consider the sexuality could be changed, I mean Batwoman wasn't always a lesbian but now it's a defining part of her character. Not saying one of our players could redefine a character but at the same time your own Batman sheet borrows elements you liked from Master Bruce's sheet. So obviously there were changes he made you enjoyed, likewise Rade's Harleen Batgirl is now part of your sheet, a choice which I'm sure not everyone agrees with but none the less you liked the idea and have implemented it.

Likewise our players are going to have ideas they like to implement. I know for a fact you're not overly thrilled about all the changes I'm making to Cassandra, but you're willing to give me a chance so lets do the same for this Starfire.

At the end of the day, whether it's their own sexuality or not, sometimes it's just easier to write what you know.

The concept of Harleen under Bruce's wing predates Rade and was of my only idea construction, actually. Also, my own opinions does not represent me accepting a sheet or not otherwise I would've told Wraith off already, lol. I have no problem with Starfire being whatever she is as long as it doesn't seem tacked on or seemingly contrived.

sometimes it's just easier to write what you know.

I feel "it being easy" isn't a viable excuse, by the way. I've always lived that the fun in writing is the challenges that comes with pushing yourself as an artist of narrative and characterization.

My characters are not always gay. Let the record show that I did identify as 'straight' at one point and role played as such until I felt comfortable enough to role play with my character being a homosexual. So. Now, I play both.

Identity
Diana the Goddess of War “Wonder Woman”

Origin & Backstory

In the old days
Princess Diana, a Child of Queen Hippolyta and Zeus himself - at least that's the tale. Most of her life, she lived in a secluded paradise island named Themyscira along with her kind, the Amazons, an ancient society of females. The island contained vast forests with plants and wildlife unlike any other place. Grass greener than green, and trees as strong as stone, and in the middle of it all was the great marble city that had once inspired both Greek and Roman architecture. The beauty of the place was only matched by the power of its inhabitants.
It was there the princess trained under the guidance of Ares from the moment she could hold a sword. In the society, where no man was allowed, lessons were taught to the young demigoddess by the edge of the sword. The first time she saw her own blood she did weep, but as she got on her feet, and saw the look on her trainer’s face she went instantly silent. The incidence certainly didn’t signal the last time she would bleed, but it did signal the last time Diana would shed a tear. From that point on everything was taught the hard way. Fear, pain, and hesitation were stomped out, under the heel of Ares.
Ares, a being of immense power, had long been a friend of the Queen. His strength and capacity for combat was respected amongst the female warriors, and had earned him the title of God of War – something that extended far beyond the borders of Themyscira. It had been he who had brought up the possibility of him training the little child, and it had been he who had made the travel to Themyscira from early morning and stayed until late evening.
With each passing day, Diana grew stronger, faster and more agile, just like her skills with sword, spear, shield, lasso, and braces improved to the point where even the more experienced Amazons, like Artemis, would be at her mercy in the arena.
One day Ares declared he would not fight her anymore, he would only watch. The anger and bitterness in his tone was never quite understood by Diana.
Along with her success the influence of Ares’ presence on the island expanded. What had once been a guest was suddenly seated in the council chamber. Decisions, about the future of the Amazons, were occasionally interrupted by a very male voice. The God of War’s long journey home became a stroll to the hill right where the sun went down. In fact his residence was only matched by the Queen’s.

2010
Then the drums of war sounded…

Pride, principle and tradition had come in the way of diplomacy. A simple disagreement over whether or not the Minotaurs should get a temporary part of the island ended in roars and the stomping of hooves. Things only escalated when The God of War tried reasoning with them alone.
Victory had seemed near as the mighty Bull Fleet was sunk at the shores of Themyscira, but taking the fight to the enemy only showed that a much larger battle awaited the Amazons. In the dying homeland of the beasts, the war took an unexpected turn. The Princess, whom had blossomed into a magnificent woman, led the Seventh Wave of Amazons. There she witnessed herself tread on the bodies of dying sisters to push the enemy back. Corpses piled up like mountains, creating an even more hideous landscape. Sometimes Diana couldn’t even identify the soaking figures’ exact race.
When the fearsome King Minotaur fell at last, it was by the hand of The God of War under a red sky in a red field. Much was lost. Women lying so far from their home and queen, but a few champions had emerged and made their sisters proud. Artemis had been no surprise, but one of the others turned out to be the Princess. If anyone had had doubts about Diana’s courage, they would never do so again.

Then came the decision. A few of the crude monsters had sailed off just as the Seventh Wave had broken their line of defense. Was a life of dishonor in a dying world sufficient punishment for threatening the Amazon society? Or would nothing less than the extermination of their foul kind be enough? Even a council chamber filled with veterans had to search their soul.
The Queen however seemed to have made up her mind: Enough blood had been spilled, even for the Amazons. There was no honor in hunting a bull without horns. This should once again be a time of peace where even the bravest of women could see to her wounds. Just as the Queen finished, new words filled the room, a voice deeper than that of a woman. With every sentence spoken more Amazons made the slightest of nods. It was talk of death and genocide. Gone were the friendly looks between the Queen and Ares, maybe they had not been there for a while. Ares hammered in that he would need to be the one who led the army, did the killing stroke and ensured peace. He then called out for every strong woman to “stand up as a symbol of approval.”
Just then a woman’s voice stopped the squeaking of chairs. The voice cut through the room, and it cut through the speech of the God of War.
No fire had ever burned as bright as the one in Diana’s eyes. In that moment, standing tall in the door, there was no doubt Zeus was her father, and what she said would later be written in stone:
“By my right as future queen I say, we will do battle, O' God of War. One will stand, one will fall. And she who stands will say how the Minotaur War ends.”
Earth itself almost didn’t seem capable of holding her weight. For a while silence dominated the chamber, and both Diana’s and Ares’ eyes would not let go of each other’s. When the Princess’ gaze did wander off the being of enormous power and skill she saw a strange look – a strange look on her mother’s face. A look only children allow themselves, not the Queen of Themyscira. However, the expression was quickly buried behind a cold facade while Ares accepted.

Diana had heard tales of the magnificence of her mother’s armor. She had even kept a small hope of seeing it, before she sailed to battle. At the dawn of the challenge that armor was being placed on her very own frame by the Queen. Not a word was said between them. Somehow Diana had never imagined she would be able to fill the set of armor that had been passed down from generations, but she did – she filled it good. Even after all those years not a single scratch could be found on the shiny alloyed.
Knowing quite a lot about armor, she could feel the quality against her tightened figure.
The braces were on her wrists. The lasso at her waist. Diana looked like something from the earliest scrolls – The first of the Amazons.
A single hand gesture made her halt right before the exit. For a brief moment the woman, who had given birth to her, did not seem to know exactly how to follow up. Affection was not commonplace. Only children were carried, and Amazons only placed their arms around the dead. In the end mother and daughter reached around and pressed each other’s foreheads forward until they met. For a while they just stood there, head against head, with more emotion behind their closed eyelids than even the fiercest battle could produce.
Armed with the family sword, Diana greeted a new day and its early, orange glow. An almost endless line of steady Amazons led to the arena. Like statues they stood with their shields, spears and straightened backs.
Just as Diana’s boot touched the path a nearby Amazon out of nowhere pounded her own shield. Through the helmet shined the eyes of Artemis. Then two more joined with the next step. Then four more and then eight. Soon the entire island sounded with the battle song of the Princess. It was loud, like a thunderstorm, and it guided every step to the arena.
But when the warrior princess arrived no one was there. No god. No opponent. No one to answer the challenge.
Ares was gone. Disappeared. Disgraced. No longer a god. No longer with honor, but a coward who ran.
And so it came to be that the world got a new God of War – or rather a Goddess of War. Princess Diana, the Goddess of War.
Songs were song about her words in the council chamber. The family armor became hers. Her thighs were pierced with the feather of Hermes, giving her the power of flight and thereby the power of the gods. History was written that day.

2011
In a time of rebuilding, it was prophesied that the Minotaur War had only been the beginning. Evil was coming to all corners of the planet like tidal waves, drowning all. It would not stop, but continue in all forms and shapes.
The day metal clouds shielded Themyscira from the sun, however briefly, Diana knew she could no longer hide herself away in the remote paradise and wait for the darkness to reach their shores. When war rained down from Heaven, the Goddess of War needed to respond. And respond she did. That day she voiced her departure, gathered her things, and left. Silence suddenly ruled the island; in the council chamber, through the streets, at the guard post. Only looks were exchanged.

The outside world had certainly changed, and it placed upon her a strange name: Wonder Woman. Not as glorifying as the sound of shields, but by the time she stood shoulder to shoulder with champions from many worlds, she accepted it and turned her attention to the ones at her side.
A man, glowing bright, shaping powerful weapons from his jewelry with nothing but his thoughts.
Another, faster than any arrow, and using that speed to head right into battle with no hesitation.
One, who wielded the power of Poseidon, commander of the sea itself.
A woman, birdlike, but swung her mace like only a true Amazon could. Each hit was like a new earthquake.
A shadow, fragile looking, but mysterious and at the pinnacle of both skill and determination.
A strange creature, green and bald, yet wise beyond anything.

And then there was him. If there would ever be a man who could throw her down and claim her as his own it would be him. If only he had not brought so much compassion to the battlefield he would be the ideal warrior.

So many glorious fights followed: The attempt on Diana’s life by a mysterious Cheetah-woman, The Injustice Gang, the messenger of Hades, and The Injustice Gang again.
It took a while, but slowly some of the customs of the outside world crept beneath Diana’s thick skin and stayed there. The expressions, the television, the milkshakes – all of it. Some things, in the world where everything could so easily be broken, appealed even to an Amazon, just like men were actually taller than she had imagined and less hairy.
Meanwhile the sun would rise and set on Themyscira without her. It was now Diana on a distant battlefield so far from her queen and home.
Was she still a sister? Was she still the Goddess of War? Could she ask to be more?.. Could she be a bridge between worlds?

Character Notes

Themyscira: The concealed home of the Amazons and Diana, and a vast paradise from ancient times. No mortal man has ever been allowed to set foot on it.

Supporting Cast:

Queen Hippolyta: The strong-willed mother of Diana and ruler of Themyscira. She loved her daughter like any other Amazon would their child. However, the Queen’s thoughts, after Diana left the island, have yet to be revealed.

Artemis: Once a rival of Diana, now a loyal, yet brutally honest friend. This woman is considered one of the best Amazons of this age and her skill, bravery, and commitment is the stuff of legend.

Rouges Gallery:

Ares: Once believed to be a god, the being of immense power was a friend of the Queen and a teacher to Diana. Over many years he gained more and more influence on the island of the Amazons. When he went so far as to challenge the Queen’s decision Diana challenged him to a fight for which he never showed. He was never seen again. Now one without honor, he was stripped of his title as God of War.

Cheetah: Origins unknown. A plain-clothed woman, but with claws as nails and wild cat eyes, she fought with tremendous speed and agility. What had first been thought to be a strike at the Justice League was later ruled as only an attempt on Diana’s life. Only when the mad woman tasted the pointy end of a sword, did she make a swift retreat.

Hades: A creature of old, Hades work in the shadows through alliances and manipulation. The Amazons have long seen past his deception and has therefor hunted him like a wild animal, though rather unsuccessfully. Not too long ago he announced his presence to Diana through a messenger. His true goals remain unknown.

Powers & Abilities

Superior Amazon Physiology: Believed to be a demigoddess by nature, Diana possess all the Amazon’s abilities like super strength, endurance, durability and speed, only greatly enhanced. Injuries that would take weeks for an Amazon, and months for a man, to fully heal can disappear in days for Diana.

Advanced weapon and hand-to-hand combat: The moment she could hold a sword, Diana has been training varies techniques and strategies both with and without a weapon.

Extensive war strategy: In her life she has only participated in one major war; The Minotaur War. But there she proved she could do more than just lead her brethren into battle. She could make them strike at the right points at the right time. Diana understands battlefields like only a commander by heart can do.

How is this character different?
In this version there is no clear statement whether Greek gods are actually divine, simply ancient beings, or if some of them are merely made up.
This is a Wonder Woman who has spent her entire life being told that the only way to stop an enemy is to kill, so boy scouts who say otherwise might get more than a cold shoulder. Her choice to leave her home was not out of interest, but duty. This is still a woman who is more Amazon than Superhero even if she is adapting to the new world.
Her decision to leave the island also started chain reactions she could never have foreseen.
Oh, and no invisible jet.

What is your goal with this character?
The morality of killing will be an issue, as will the crash of cultures. The values of the outside world don’t come easy to a woman with supernatural stubbornness. What will be clear are the signs of vulnerability and compassion behind the hard exterior. The journey to connect with them will be a hard one though.

Sample Post
This moment signaled the 10th time Diana had wanted to place her hands between those pointy ears and just squeeze until all the righteous nonsense faded from existence. His last words, about his one rule, still lingered in her mind when she reached the balcony. A casual swing of her sword split the stone rail in two, and there the blade was allowed to stay as she placed her tense fingers on what was left.

The day was won, and the last light illustrated that it was also about to end. And yet sunsets just weren’t the same on the mainland. Smoke rising from factories replaced mountains and monuments. Clucking pigeons replaced proud eagles, and circled aimlessly in the sky. Values amongst Amazons were here twisted and parodied for the sake of amusement.
Still, there were indeed things that had almost made the visiting Amazon smile. And some people, while naive, did display virtues beyond imagining.
The soft beds and seductive food had started to take their toll on the undefeated goddess. Where bone and muscle had ruled, a few soft edges had appeared. Sure, her body still responded with the same fury, if not more, but this outside world was shaping her into something she had not been ready for. And now she caught herself actually wishing someone had backed her up when her rant had been over just moments ago. Yet the room had been dead silent.

It did not require a warrior’s fine hearing to notice the gentle steps coming closer.
“You know, I found some of this world’s customs to be quite strange at first,” a voice said from behind.
Diana turned her head in a controlled fashion to locate the source and then proceeded to follow the figure of J'onn until he too had his hands on the rail.
“Good evening,” he then followed up with.
“Greetings to you, Martian.” The bitterness was not hidden.
“Anyway, as I was saying: Looking back, I guess I would have liked to have been met with more understanding. I would have liked that they had been more patient with me. And yet had they been, I would probably still find their customs strange, and… I would have been wrong.”
With a crackling sound some of the stone turned to pebbles under Diana’s palm. The parallel was not wasted on her, nor was the sword, buried between them, wasted on the other.
“Well,” he mumbled, “I will leave you to your thoughts.”
Here Diana released the rock from her punishment. “J’onn…”
He stopped.
“You fought well today,” she said.
“As did you, Diana. It’s no easy task for any of us to keep up with you out there.”
“And yet each cowardly villain of the day still draws breath.” With disgust she shook her head. “Justice…” The word tasted sour in her mouth like acid. “Justice would have been to remove them from this and every world.”
With a thoughtful look the Martian Manhunter seemed to chew on her words. “I can understand why you’d think that.”
“It is not that Amazons do not understand mercy,” she continued, no longer suppressing the thunder inside. A bold wind caught her dark hair, as her lips gained speed. “For we tried. We tried taking prisoners only to witness sisters pay with blood. For if you hold back you will never improve, and you will never cut all the heads of the hydra in time.” She sighed and did allow the muscles in her face to loosen a bit. “J’onn, I do not kill to punish-”
“I know,” he added.
“I do it to prevent. To preserve. I do it to protect the children of tomorrow. For do they not deserve a chance at life?” Diana asked without expecting an answer.
“They do. And do you believe this is the way?”
This made the woman, who could not be stopped, stop for a moment. “All I know, J’onn, is this: If the possessed clown in Gotham village is ever to break out, each life lost will be blood on the Bat’s hands.”

There hasn't been any attacks only mere corrections, I like to think of myself as a teacher.

In that spirit, CS review begins when a sheet is complete. The sample is naturally included within the assessment of complete.
