I really, really hope we get to see some dragons eventually haha I love them so much! Actually that reminds me of one more question/conversational point before I head off, (and I understand if you can't answer this question due to spoiler-ey stuff), are there any actual civilised civilisations on Ialdia? We know the largest species on the continent is the Skarves, and from what you've said they don't seem prone to discussion and barter. Will there be any sort of civilisation that the expedition will encounter, or are we in for more of a combat-oriented, 'we'll take what we can while you fight the natives off' sort of thing?I don't mind either way, I just realised I've been assuming that this'll be a very combat-focussed RP and suddenly just realised it could go off in a million other directions.
It is intended to be a RP about exploring the lost, finding what you have come to find or escape what you were. That's why I had everyone partner up. This is not a expedition meant to take, but rather to document and understand. The leaders of the races realize that this place is extremely dangerous and there is a high chance of failure. This is a try to see if it's possible, and as far as they know, there is no way to get rid of the poison that Inhibits full colonization. As for combat, it is a thing, but it is by no means the focus. It is part of a new world. And along with hundreds of other things, it makes up a world that revolves around characters and events of the past, present, and future. You are partnered with one another so that no matter where you are, you will always have somebody to talk to. This helps prevent uneventful posts, and also encourages deep character development as things progress. Just like regular people, we don't divulge the entirety of ourselves to others. For this reason I would encourage you all from keeping character personal thoughts out of your IC posts unless it is something you really want everyone to know. Characters shouldn't be transparent. As for your question regarding civilization, I am afraid I cannot answer that to its full capacity. You will most definitely encounter Skarves, who are not all bad, they just don't generally get along with outsiders (and usually portray this through violence), you will perhaps encounter a dragon or two as well (I wouldn't include them unless they were in the RP, as I also love dragons). Another thing I wanted to add is that, even though there is a whole continent to explore, I do not intend for everyone to just run off in every direction. It will become more clear what I have in store once the deadline roles around, as I will introduce the intro post structure and how that will all work. The beginning will be quite ordered and have a good way of getting everyone used to the format. Soon afterward there will be expeditions galore to keep you guys busy. If a colony wasn't ordered in some way, it would fall apart quickly. It's a big place where lots can happen, but that doesn't mean it is going to be haphazard.
