"I'd be fine with it, as long as I could see what's wrong and right. Living in a world where people get beat is wrong, I don't give a damn what you people think about it. Being beat with no moral crime is wrong."

Logan saw the logic in both sides, though he was unsure what side he agreed with more. "If we say nothing, the people are 'safe' and blissfully unaware. If we tell them, they're in more danger simply because the know what's going on."

"What if we get most of the people to know? Then we can have a numbers advantage. Though we shouldn't talk about this here, we should move somewhere else." Ellis looked at the door.

"But what if people don't want to help? What if they're too scared of Father?"

"Keep your voice down when it comes to plan of leaving," Logan said, "people go missing for thoughts of less."

"I meant the chapel..." Ellis went into a laughing fit. Why is that so funny for me?

Jennelle looked uneasily at the people around them. "I vote we leave the chapel. Just for time time being. We'll have to be back for mass."

Susanna Bell listened to the chatters whispers and quietly echo throughout the chapel. The beatings are unjust seemed to be the topic. It was a typical topic, a popular topic. She disliked hearing about the repeated topic, over and over, again, but it was such a relevant topic. It was hard not to get a beating--for some, at least. Her mother seemed to be some favorite of the gods leading the Compound, but she always fell ill. She had not received a beating in some time and was thankful.

Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God have Mercy on me a Sinner. she repeated in her head, over and over, again, trying to forget the pains in her mind that the beating had left, trying to remain in the same state that she has been--the good Susanna, who never gets beaten.

"I vote we leave the chapel. Just for time being. We'll have to be back for Mass." Their leaving seemed like a sound idea, considering their words could be heard by the people around them. They could definitely get in trouble for contemplating -- and as usual, the ones who did would get in trouble. Should the chapel not be a place to contemplate, clearly not aloud. She had been beaten for making a scene inside the chapel, the 'glorious' chapel and was hesitant to join into the conversation, to maybe even leave with them--even though what they spoke was the truth.

She held onto her rosary, repeating a Hail Mary, crossing herself, feeling entranced by the routine but still startled by the words being spoken around her.

"Yes. We shouldn't stay here and talk about such topics, but where to go?" Ellis said.

Raymond was trying his best to pray. To be normal. To be good, maybe. Maybe then he could change. He kept hearing people behind him talking about beatings, and a girl walking off angrily when confronted about her most recent one. It became harder to pray. He wanted to leave, soon, maybe as soon as he finished praying, because he didn't feel as if he had a place here. On that note, he found his hearing concentrate more and more to their direction, now hearing that they want to take this outside.
"Finally. Now maybe I can pray instead of hearing some bitching about some small beating," he said, maybe a little too loudly.
Aw, hell. I think they might've heard me.

Ellis glared angrily at Raymond. "How about you shut the hell up and ignore us?!"

Raymond started to rub his fingertips in irritation. Now, who in the world thinks they're high and mighty enough to raise their voice in here? At me? He turns around to answer his own question. To scratch that itch, if you will.
"Oh. The scrawny guy. Listen, you wanna go ahead and think back to what you said? Stepping outside to avoid making a scene? Well raising your voice and talking down to someone ain't much of a wise way to get that done, huh? I mean, unless you're looking to get beaten and thrown out. Get the fuck out of here. Come to think of it, I'm leaving, too. I'm done with this praying business, I'll try again tomorrow. So let's go. All orderly and whatnot. I'll hang around you in case you wanna cool off those nerve of yours by getting into a fight."

Susanna listened to Ellis and Raymond fight. She was afraid to speak to them, they both seemed so violent. The threats, the harsh words of insolence echoed in her mind as her praying came to a halt. Their words brought back haunted memories she wanted to refuse, but could not resist. She had no control. Her eyes began tearing and her breaths began to increase. Just pray, Susie, just keep praying, she told herself! trying to calm her nerves.

She wished they would leave, as badly as she wanted to leave, as well. Mass was starting soon, so leaving seemed to be such a redundant circle. She would have to quickly come back, anyways. She pressed her hands together, raising them to her face, praying, her eyes closed, sealing shut. Her mantra of the Jesus prayer restarted. O, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner!

Her light blue hair fell in front of her face, as she lowered her head, declining her neck and facing the ground, trying to remember why she was here in the first place. Pain was essential for life. Pain cannot be escaped. The only relief of pain was from God. Life is Pain. The afterlife would be better. She was so scared of the afterlife, what would happen after death? But the pain of the compound reminded her that she longed for the afterlife, more and more after every beating. . Those haunting beatings.

God, she wished they would stop talking, especially so inappropriately.

Jennelle put her hand on both their shoulders, trying her best to calm them down. "This is a place of worship and peace and purity, not violence and arrogance," she said, her voice low. "Carry it out if you want. Beat on each other until you are dead, but God will have much worse punishment on you in the after life if you, if all of us, continue this way."

Ellis smiled at Jennelle. "This place is far worse then any hell I can imagine..."
