 The crash from behind broke the silence as effectively as a microwave alarm at midnight. Jeremy spun to see the tree coming down as if to hit the wagon, but luckily it didn't, thanks to Baggles controlling the horses. A troll appeared in the torchlight. From behind, another rustle broke the silence as two more trolls appeared, their forms leaving a patch of the barely visible sky hidden in endless darkness. [i]Not good, not good...[/i]

He rushed forward, but halted when she glanced back, a frown visible by the light of her magic. [i]Wow, what a warm welcome.[/i] He raised an eyebrow and stood still, seeing the features falling again. He wasn't coming much closer during that. This was one of her AOE abilities if he recalled correctly. His name was Fool, but he wasn't one..

With that prompting Fool put on a burst of speed, his eyes intent catching every detail possible before the light faded. The aid of [b]Dead Eye[/b] put a knife in the conscious troll's eye before the other hit the ground. He pulled another knife on the run, and then planted himself halfway between the angry incoming troll and Imagine, focusing just for a moment. [b]"Darkness Slayer!"[/b]

Blades spun from his fingers quickly, but the troll didn't even stop, it lumbered forward, pulling its arm back to swing just as his last knife whistled into it with a thud. Fool didn't even pause to activate avoidance, he threw himself down bodily as a gigantic piece of wood whipped through the air where his head was, the miss staggering the troll long enough to activate [b]Avoidance[/b]. 

Jeremy's eyes were wide with both surprise and fear, his blades had each dealt the troll just a portion of what they had the players. He lacked time to even summon them back. That took too much thinking.

The beast was intelligent to stomp down at him, but Fool was already upright, ducking the next swing easily. At such close quarters he couldn't have thrown a knife if he wanted, all the lithe knife thrower was capable of was ducking and dodging the swings- which were slow, but growing faster- the troll was learning to use his own momentum to keep a continuous swinging motion. The result was an odd sort of dance, Fool ducking and weaving as he stepped about, the troll turning and attempting to keep pace. Surprisingly the troll was beginning to catch up. Fool couldn't dodge forever. [i]This is what I get for trying to be nice. Great.[/i] He slipped and the club smashed into his side, tossing Fool bodily across the road and into a tree. He had managed to rise to his hands and knees, coughing violently, when he looked up to see the troll's form storming towards him, bellowing in anger and covered in black fluid, where his throwing knives stuck out all over its stomach and chest as dark shadows. Fool rolled sideways just in time to avoid being smashed by an overhead swing that splintered and cracked the tip of the club on the ground with an audible crunch.

The price for that roll was another round of coughing. In the real world, that blow would have shattered ribs and possibly punctured a lung. 

He knew the pain was just a simulation here... Fool staggered upright and backed away from the troll rapidly, going even paler than normal as he attempted to fight the pain. He would have sworn if he could have, realizing he was backing [i]away[/i] from the torchlight marking the wagon, further down the road. A small defiant smile crossed his lips. "Better me than her, you bastard." He had always wanted to die with a witty phrase.
