Okay, so I guess we're making it that everyone will be a fifth year student. However, I will no longer encourage multiple characters. That being said, everyone is allowed to play at least one student and one professor if she so desires.

I will not be making a time table. Classes aren't THAT important where we need to know the schedule for the entire day. Furthermore, I don't think I have the right amount of knowledge to make one properly. That being said, if you guys really see it as that important, you can make one and I will follow it. In regard to the length of class time, if I see it lasting too long, I will cut it short. I've never done an HP RP before but I cannot possibly fathom why people would get stuck in class, lol. But if you guys say it happens, I will be particularly aware of such an occurrence. Discussing the class time in OoC to shorten the IC is more work than we need. I think we should, as role players, be able to get through this without having to go to such lengths.

I honestly hate making maps and thus it will be torture for me to make a layout... but I can and will.

A daily weather forecast? Before I instantly reject this idea I would like to ask why do you think this would be necessary?

In regard to the point system, I like it, but I'm not sure if it is necessary. I think to make it simpler, in the character skeleton we include skills strengths/weaknesses. Furthermore, the point system doesn't work when making professor characters unless we allow professors to have more points to spend.

Ty betelgeuse for the links! :)

I have an idea for classes. A class could be limited to a certain amount of posts. Like after 15 posts class is over.

I can make a layout! I have a few stashed away. I can pull out the one for Trebol and see what you think of it, you can make changes as you see fit?

Also I think that we should be allowed to make characters 5th year and above to have more of a diversity. The older students interacted with each other enough that it shouldn't be a problem. 7th years have to worry about NEWTs as well so there will be plenty to work with.

I agree that as long as we are mindful of the class length ourselves that we shouldn't need to follow a strict schedule that might make it difficult for those who aren't able to be on all day everyday.

I also agree with a simple strength and weakness chart.

Eveekitten, if you could make a layout, I would love you forever!

I think Im going to keep it as 5th year for now and see where it goes. Keeping everyone 5th year is a safe move because there's almost no way that it can go wrong whereas having different yeared students can possibly run into some trouble.

My only problem with the standard strengths/weaknesses in a HP rp is that in all the games I've played end up with thirteen wizards that all pick 'History of Magic' or 'Divination' as their only weakness. I feel like simple set of points would help prevent a lot of confusion and arguments on "you can't do that!". Just a suggestion to help prevent a lot of Mary Sue/OP characters and keep everyone equal in different ways. Maybe students get 18 points and teachers get 22 points? If still no, not a problem, just trying to help :)

Will it just be called the Salem School of Magic? The Salem Academy? Salem School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?

And no problemo with the links! Super helpful stuff.

Betelgeuse, what happens when everyone doesn't put any points into those same stats that you said everyone picks as their weakness? Effectively, its the same thing. Plus, there's a lot on that list that I think should be. If youre an academically inclined person, you'd be good at a LOT of those things, just like Hermoine. However, say youre a physically inclined person, youd be good at a lot of things that arent on that list. Same thing as with people who are, say, socially inclined. Then you end up making a list that is far too long and complicated.

I think simplicity is the way to go here.

Also, just throwing it out there, I was going to make a character who was particularly interested/skilled in divination.

Aaaaand, Idk about the name of the school. Anyone else with ideas? :)

Okay so after examining it I decided that Trebol just didn't fit... so I found something else that I thought worked much better.

This is an actual building out of salem with a bit of imagination I can see it being quite expansive. Also it's just off the water front and I was thinking that when people walked past it they could see a broken down old ruin of a building that seems impossible to break into. They also seem to lose all interest in the building the second they wander up to it xD

And basic layout:
School Layout:

Main Building -

1st Floor - Lobby, Banquet Hall, Caretaker’s office, staircases, elevator shaft
2nd Floor - Nurse’s ward and office, History of Magic classroom
3rd Floor - Headmaster/mistress office, Transfiguration classroom, Arithmancy Classroom, Muggle Studies classroom
4th floor - Charms classroom, potions classroom
Roof - Herbology Greenhouse

2nd Building - Student Housing

1st floor Main Lobby - Lounge/Common room, Prefect Dorm
1st and 2nd Floor West Wing - Wisteria 1st - 3rd year
1st and 2nd floor East Wing - Gladium 1st - 3rd year
3rd and 4th floor West Wing - Foxglove 1st - 3rd year
3rd and 4th floor East Wing - Viserious 1st - 3rd year

3rd Building - Student Housing

1st floor Main Lobby, Lounge/Common room, Prefect Dorm
1st Floor East Wing - Veserious 6th - 7th year
2nd Floor West Wing - Wisteria 4th - 5th year
2nd Floor East Wing - Gladium 4th - 5th year
3rd Floor West Wing Foxglove 4th - 5th year
3rd Floor East Wing Veserious 4th - 5th year
4th Floor West Wing - Wisteria 6th - 7th year
4th Floor East Wing - Gladium 6th - 7th year
Northern Tower - Foxglove 6th - 7th year

4th Building - Bell Tower

1st Floor - Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom
2nd Floor - Ancient Runes Classroom, Divination classroom
Bell Tower - Astronomy

Grounds -

The Quidditch Pitch
Stables for Care of Magical Creatures Class

If you don't want a timetable, fine by me. Clearly I thought it was more "slice of life" than plot-centered. But if that is the case, what will the teachers do in this RP? Unless they get fixed up in whatever ungodly mess the students are caught in, I see no reason for PC teachers. And the weather thing has been a very successful method of adding difficulty in the RP. Who wants to play quidditch in freezing rain? But, same as before, if you don't want it don't have it.

Evee, you are a genius. But we need a staffroom and teacher dorms. I also hope people will put the location they are RPing in at the top of their posts, to avoid confusion.

Tbh by now I really want the OOC up! X) I think we've done more than our fair share share of planning, and any other minor issues can be solved as we go in the IC.

The name of the school mustn't have any links to the location. Think about the existing schools - they never say exactly where they are in their names to keep the secrecy. I also think students should arrive by boat, instead of train.
