Jackdawl / Veezarus / Benjamin Daniels / Lillin Ifriel / Shadow The entire time Mr. Daniels spoke Jackdawl kept his focus entirely on his soldiers as they rummaged through the vault, you couldn't tell, and he wouldn't show it, but Jackdawl was very excited and enjoyed returning to the field. "Consider her your payment, Mr. Daniels" Jackdawl said blankly, turning his head towards him he spoke boldly, as to emphasize how serious he was at the moment. "If I have to deal with her, i'm going to deal with you as well." Looking back to the vault, Jackdawl waited patiently when Veezarus teleported next to him, holding an unconscious detective on his shoulder. He tossed him to the floor and he lay still. "The vigilante you requested" "I have it!" somebody shouted "I-I have it! Jackdawl sir, it's the Kennedy Manifest!" with that the soldier jogged towards the terrorist and handed him pure black notebook. "It's Christmas." Jackdawl placed the notebook in his coat and lifted up his rifle, holding it with both hands. "We've got it, boys and girls, lets go home" Jackdawl walked with about a dozen of his soldiers walking behind him, along with Veezarus and Lillin. The few hostages that had decided to stand watch jumped at the sight of the group and lifted their weapons, aiming at the crowd of criminals, too overcome with fear to pull the trigger. "Oh no.." Lillin muttered. "Well, how interesting" Jackdawl said, looking around the lobby in search of the civilians that crowded the place minutes ago. "I must be losing my touch. Kill them." Lillin screamed and threw herself onto Jackdawl out of desperation. "No! You promised! You said you wouldn't!" Jackdawl grabbed her by the neck and shoved her to the floor. "Two of my men lay dead, Lillin. These vigilantes wield guns, they've made their decision. Blood for blood." Turning his head, he nodded towards his soldiers who lifted their guns in unison and unloaded into the hostages. Lillin remained on the floor, sobbing once more at the sight. "Where's the nymph?!" Mr. Daniels asked. "I'm afraid now isn't the time for romance Mr. Daniels, if it's meant to be she'll come back I assure you. Let's go." Jackdawl gestured toward the goons outside as he walked down the steps, signaling that it was time to leave when a military helicopter flew out from behind a building, joining the helicopter were several military grade trucks, somewhat similar to that of Jackdawl's. Mercenaries exited the vehicles, immediately aiming at Jackdawl's who aimed right back. Mercenaries that resided in a building on the opposite side of the Chicago Public Library smashed the windows open and set their sights on Jackdawl. The rain that poured down on Chicago suddenly began to fade away. Inside the helicopter a mercenary approached and opened the sliding doors, revealing a light machine gun manned by another mercenary and aiming right at the terrorist. The man known only by his codename, Shadow, lead the assault, and spoke with a bold tone into a megaphone from within the helicopter. "Order your men to lower their weapons, put your hands in the air, and get on your knees, or we will open fire." Jackdawl looked around the area in a surprised fashion, as if he were impressed. His soldiers, willing to give up their life for their master, refused to drop their weapons and began shouting various slurs and curse words at the mercenaries. Shadow spoke once more. "Jackdawl, you. are. surrounded. This is your final warning. Lower. Your. Weapons." Jackdawl casually tossed his assault rifle to the side and looked up, locking eyes with the helicopter. He cocked his head to the side and lifted his arms up before a cloak of purple fire suddenly combusted into existence and surrounded his body. Two balls of fire twice Jackdawl's size burst from his palms and exploded into the helicopter, killing the pilot and tearing the helicopters tail from the main body. Both mercenaries and Jackdawl's soldiers opened fire and in a moments notice the library was a warzone. Shadow leaped from the spiraling helicopter, curled in a ball he spun several times before landing on the ground with grace and immediately sprinting towards Jackdawl with a pistol in one hand and a combat knife in the other. However, just as he leapt for the masked man Veezarus tackled into his body and the two rolled on the floor before recovering and simultaneously taking a fighting stance. Taking a moment to size eachother up, the two mercenaries collided into close combat. The helicopter crashed into the street and exploding on impact taking out a significant chunk of Aegius Security mercenaries. Jackdawl walked through the battlefield, unfazed by the gunfire and death that began to surround him. Any bullets that came within inches of his body were blocked by the purple fire that had the ability to alter it's properties and shield him from gunfire. He hopped onto one of his military trucks and entered through the hatch. "Drive" he said as he took a seat and strapped in. The engine started and the truck was off, crashing through the Aegius trucks and clearing a path. Jackdawl's soldiers had gained the upper hand and took this advantage to pile into the other trucks and follow their leader back home. Veezarus and Shadow were completely equal hand to hand wise, the fight was a stalemate. Veezarus had managed to body slam Shadow, who used the impact to bounce back up and onto his feet a couple yards from the assassin. He took this opportunity to fire his pistol, a bullet pierced Veezarus' stomach and he reeled over, grimacing in pain. Shadow took advantage, pulling out his combat knife he sprinted towards the lizard for a killing blow when Veezarus poofed into a cloud of green smoke. Shadow stopped in his place, and Veezarus' blade pierced him from behind. He ripped the blade from Shadow's back and slashed downward, causing the mercenary to shout in pain and fall to the floor. Veezarus gave a satisfied hiss and vanished into a cloud of green smoke. Within moments he reappeared in Jackdawl's truck, sitting beside him. By now, none of Jackdawl's soldiers remained at the library. Only about a handful had been killed. The Aegius Security mercenaries took no time to grieve in their loss and immediately charged into the library to liberate the hostages.
