[/quote] The Silmarillion is the Bible for Middle Earth, basically. I've only ready part of it, but it's some crazy awesome stuff. Actually, some classmates and I were just talking about how it relates to string theory, since we were just studying it in physics. The way our professor put it, all matter in the universe is (theoretically) made up of these tiny vibrating "strings" that, depending on their frequency, can be anything, and it's like one big cosmic symphony. In the Silmarillion the world comes about by way of music. Narnia too was literally sung into existence. It's poetic, but it's also fascinating to think that they might not be too far off, even though it's just a theory and way beyond our ability to understand at this time. Yeah, food for thought.
