You're acting like there's no standard for that pronunciation. Multiple words are already pronounced with the 'j' sound despite being spelled with a 'g'. Should we overhaul the English vocabulary and alter all of our spellings to more accurately represent pronunciations? No, we shouldn't, because THAT we be idiotic—very much unlike pronouncing the file format .gif in the objectively correct fashion.
