Matt was doing his daily patrols through the city, searching for any vampires that dare cross him or make themselves known in this city. Ever since SOLDIER made a outpost here vampire outbreaks have slowly occured less and less, and his job has gotten all the more boring. It had been a week or two since he had even seen a the remote sign of a vampire. No killings, no random dissapearances, everything was peaceful.

Too peaceful. Sure, I mean the city is guarded 24/7 by a squadron of elite soldiers trained to kill vampires faster than you could blink, but its so unusual to have had no activity at all for so long. He ceased walking for a bit and leaned up aside a building sighing. "Man, I wonder why I am even out here. I mean, they know their hasn't been any outbreaks or any sightings for that matter in weeks." Matt said out loud to himself. "Sometimes I feel they have us out here just to keep us busy."

He flexed his hands a bit, hard leather crackling as he did. He sighed, leaned up, and continued his rounds. At least his shift would be over in a few hours, he could at least go home and rest and get something to eat.

Zandrea somewhat stuck out in the world today, she was almost 300 years old but still dressed the same way when she was mortal if you didn't know she was from that time period you might confuse her for a actress during those pirates theme park rides, but her clothes were the real deal. she looked up at the sky her tri-corner hat shielding her green eyes from the sun "nice day...." she smiled and continued to walk around outside her hands trailing along trees older then she was as she walked past them.

she was a rumored vampire no one ever tried to confirm it, she was sweet and kind to everyone she meet never showing any hostility to anyone nor showing her powers off in public, Zandrea was the type of "19" year old you would bring home to meet your mother and she would always be treated like family there after. she came up to the wall where matt was on duty and looked up at the wall her eyes peeking from the shadow her hat gave under it "ahoy up there! who do we have on the wall today?" she asked to what seemed like the sky.

Ooc: I should probably mention there isn't any actually wall, he was walking through the streets and leaned up against a building. The city isn't walled or anything, just a group of SOLDIER stationed there. I'll try to work with your post however so you don't have to wait for a
reply untill after you edit it.

IC: Matt paused walking up the street for a moment to turn and respond to the person talking to him. It was Zandrea. " Silent, as it had been for the past week or so. Quite boring to say the least." Matt told her. "And what about yourself, anything interesting happen lately?"

This being a small town there was rarely anyone to talk to unless it was for a brief moment at the SOLDIER outpost near the city, aside from that Matt was also bored as hell. So a conversation, no matter how short, would hopefully alleviate him of some boredom if only for a few minutes.

Randy sat at the base of a tree on the outskirts of town. After all, with all of the Vampire attacks he really couldn't do anything else. If he even stepped out of line in any way they'd be on him as long as he still had fangs. So the most he could do is sit and wait for the right moment to attack. Randy stretched and yawned. "If only it got darker sooner..." he muttered.

(ooc): sorry for some reason when i was building the scene in my mind i was seeing a wall

Zandrea started to walk beside him after catching up to him she flashed him a soft smile showing no teeth "just helping the miss Flynn's grade 3 class with the garden they are making, i wanna make sure i get first dibs if they grow anything tasty other then that boring that's why i came to see who is on on duty" they continued to walk side by side Zandrea following him as he made his rounds.

holds her hands behind her back she looked at matt "so....I know its a touchy subject but....any ramblings about attacks lately? I haven't heard any in awhile and wanna know if I can help with anything" she was curious she was a very passive vampire and hates hurting people but she knew others of her kind did not share her views, she kept her vampirism hidden so she can mingle with the humans

Leah sighed as she closed the cabinet door in the infirmary at the SOLDIER outpost. SInce vampire attacks were becoming sparse, she was worried that all of their medical supplies were going to waste so she needed to make sure that nothing was past its expiry date and that the bandages were still intact. To her pleasant surprise, everything was in order but she just wanted to check one last thing. She circled the room with her eyes, just to be sure no one was watching, before kneeling down next to one of the infirmary beds. She reached under with both hands and the sounds of velcro scraping apart filled the silence of the outpost. She then pulled a long wooden box out from under the bed which she opened to find that it held her katana and her semi-automatic pistol. She lifted them both out of the box, examining them carefully to see if they needed to be cleaned. But again, all things seemed to be in order.

She sighed and placed everything back in its original place before securing the box back under the bed with the leather straps. This was worrying. Everything was too quiet, it had never been like this. Surely something was coming soon but... Leah shook her head to stop herself from worrying too much. "Perhaps I just need a bit of a walk," she said quietly to herself before heading out. She quickly grabbed a little brown bag which contained a small first aid kit before leaving the outpost. She roamed the streets of the town, resisting the urge to look down every dark corner just to find one of those blood suckers. She couldn't stop herself from worrying that something was going to happen and the worry was beginning to show on her face. She had a strange feeling like something was near but was even more frightened at the fact that she was unarmed. She patted at her side, just to make sure she had her bag with her at least but in the moment of distraction, she accidentally bumped into someone. "Oh, I'm sorry," she said quietly and out of embarrassment.

There was another carving on the tree; but this time, it was carved with long, pointy fingernails. The world hasn't been as brighter since Chase's transformation, and she hated every single minute of her undead life. No heartbeat, no thrive, just a intense craving for human blood- that's it. Another immortal day living, is another day wasted. Even though, this is her second day as a newly transformed vampire.

The carvings on the wall were lines; which represented the number of days she and her boyfriend, Alex, had been apart from the earth. The more she tread amongst this forest in her own backyard, the more she has the memories of her and Alex's adventures here- ever since they were children. They were childhood sweethearts, a bud growing into a beautiful flower; but the pedals slowly wilted two days ago.

Alex was murdered, and Chase was spared. The Blood Compact was severed by treason, and SOLDIER are on the loose to wipe them away from further damage. But is Chase prone to hurt anybody? Even Chase doesn't know; since her first kill, her first blood-drinking joyride, was a SOLDIER operative. She's not only afraid of herself, but also afraid of SOLDIER- who would avenge their comrade's death.

So that was why Chase hid in this forest. It was a sanctuary of protection, and an environment full of her childhood memories. It was her home, and she intended to stay here forever. However, muffling sounds of unrecognizable people gave her the curiousity to venture outside the woods; but she fears that death will be there, waiting for its preemptive strike.

But if she dies, she will reunite with Alex; so there was nothing to lose. After clawing a long line on Chase's favorite oak tree, she stood up from her squatting position and adjusted her wintry scarf around her neck. She loved the wintertime, so she always dresses herself in an all cozy-like apparel. With a deep breath, she walked by the oak tree, and strolled a couple of yards until she reached the outside world. She placed one foot in front of the other, light pouring down on her. It was a relief that she didn't burn, since she was stick inside the darkness. Her eyes scrolled the city-like neighborhood, and she felt something odd inside. She can smell someone, how could a human, or any other creature, have a specific smell at a half mile radius away? Finding the owner of the smell, she gasped. She then covered her mouth with her mittens, as she saw a human with... a vampire? The man was equipped with weapons, and probably equipped with the skills of combat. But, what was the vampire doing with the SOLDIER? Are all vampires not evil?

The confusion racked up her mind. Can she greet a single person in this city and be treated as a being? Or will she be gunned down by the bruisers of the resistance? Without figuring it out, she watches the two from afar- seeing if they could provide the answer for her.

Leah made sure she was watching where she was going this time, keeping her concentration on her walk. Even though she knew not where she was going, just as long as she could stay out of everyone's way she would be fine. But to her pleasant surprise, she saw Matt and Zandrea not too far away. She approached them with a smile, but it was somewhat forced. She could still feel that someone was near however she chose to ignore it. "Hello. Glad to see I'm not the only one enjoying the fine weather today," she said politely as she bowed respectfully to Matt and gave a smile to Zandrea. She knew that despite her smile, the worry was slightly showing on her face. She was never good at hiding her feelings.

"Nope, not a damn thing. Well, yea, if you consider talk about nothing happening something." Matt said, obviously annoyed at the fact that nothing had been going on lately. "Making my job more boring and meaningless by the second. Though I do find it a bit odd nothing has happened recently, way too quite."

Shortly after he had finished talking Leah walked up to them and greeted them. "Enjoying it, more like forcefully enjoying it to say the least. If it were up to me i'd be inside my nice warm house watching TV and eating a meal right about now, instead I'm stuck out here walking aimlessly around this city patrolling for something that probably fled to a different state by now." He replied to Leah.

Matt had been in SOLDIER ever since he was old enough to enlist, nothing excited him more than the thrill of combat. He was trained for combat, and nothing more. And without anything to fight, combat was out of the question. Thus brings about his current annoyed state.

He noticed Leah had a worried look in her face, "What's wrong? Someone get attacked and you had to stich em up and they didn't make it or something?" He asked her.

Randy shuttered. There were others around. And not just the wretched stink of humans, it was the scent of a vampire. He very quickly jumped from tree to tree to find the owner of the scent. He got closer to the city then sat on a branch of an oak tree. He observed his surroundings very quickly then finally looked down. He clung to the branch with his legs but hung upside down. Then he waved to the person. "Hello there." Randy said to Chase, "What are you doing all the way out here?"

Leah smiled at Matt's reply and nodded. It was only ever wishful thinking that the vampires would ever flee, so she herself was not so confident. However, when he asked her about her worry, she looked at him with wide eyes, pretending that there was nothing bothering her. "Wrong? No, nothing's wrong," she said, trying to smile at him cheerfully. She tried to casually look around, just to make sure that her instincts were wrong however, she just couldn't shake the feeling. Her eyes suddenly caught sight of someone in the distance, someone dressed in winter attire. Leah got a strange feeling about her, but decided to try and stop herself from worrying. "Everything's so quiet now. I guess I'll head to the library for a little bit. I'll see you guys around," Leah said, bowing politely to both for them before heading off. The library was her sanctuary. If there was anywhere she could find peace, it was there, amongst all the books of knowledge. Before she walked away completely, she took one last look at the strange figure in winter clothes, hoping that her instincts were wrong.

Matt told her goodbye and continued walking up the street. He didn't walk except for a few feet until he noticed someone on the edge of the forest, what exactly was someone doing in or around the forest? He called out to the person as he steadily walked towards them "You there, who are you and whater are you doing around the forest? You know its not safe to venture into the woods, especially with the vampires still posing a threat."

As he continued to walk closer he noticed them wearing winter clothes. Odd, he thought to himself, its not really cold enough to be bundled up that much.. Nevertheless he continued his
stride, one hand over his pistol if need be.

Chase jumped as she saw the vampire hanging upside down from a tree branch nearby. Her white scarf unfurled itself from her neckand fell softly on the mucky ground below her feet.

Fantastic, she sarcastically thought. She picked up the white scarf, stained with mud and dirt, and held it in her hand before looking back at the man.

"I'm observing," Chase said softly, "to see what the real world looks like beyond undead eyes."

It was quite interesting how this man looked care-free, his body dangling upside down with his feet as support. He has probably known his vampire status; which is unfortunate for her, since she is new in the vampire enterprise. Chase broke the awkward gaze and looked back to the odd couple.

"And what are you doing all the way here? Trying to find food, perhaps?" For a new vampire, she is buried with the stereotypical thoughts of what they are: bloodsuckers, flawless seducers, ugly but witty. But it was funny how some of these options have no evidence of reality. Well, besides the bloodsucking part.

The short, and maybe meaningless conversation ended as soon as the SOLDIER guy asked questions to the inhabitants of the forest and headed slowly to the forest- to Chase and the other vampire- with a gun equipped to on his hand. Chase stopped and became frozen in fear, seeing the gun that can be a murder weapon to her. She slowly mumbled something out, but that was unknown even to Chase herself. If she stays quiet, then maybe, he won't pull the trigger. But as he continued to closely be in sight, the smell of blood, and the thumping of his heart rang ears and filled the taste buds of the young vampire. She shivers in more fear, her mumblings progressing into something more unknown.

"No, more like waiting for an opportunity." Randy smiled. "I'd say the blood was going to my head but I'd need a beating heart for that." Then he laughed. "So, just observing huh?" Then Randy released his grip on the tree and accidentally fell head first on the ground. "Ouch." He sat up and scratched his head. "Wouldn't have hurt at all if it was night time." He stood up and walked over to Chase. "I'm Randall, but most just call me Randy."

"Ch-Chase." She finally muttered out during her mumbling. The man was still walking at their direction; and if she still had a beating heart, it would beat out from her cheat, and stop in exhaustion. But, in some weird case, Chase's chest did felt like it might burst. Without saying goodbye, Chase fled away, back to her unknown sanctuary. She hid behind her favorite oak tree, and clenched her winter coat, breathing heavily in fear. She crumbled with tears of blood, which gave the mud a red texture. When she saw that she was crying, she attempted to calm herself down by laying down on dirt ground. If Alex was alive, he would've known a sure-fire way to soothe her. But, nothing so far has been comforting on her second day as a vampire; and a target for all mankind.

Leah had just reached the library doors when she patted her side and realized she hadn't brought her library card with her. "Damn it..." She grunted quietly. Although she wasn't going to be borrowing any books, a means of identification was crucial nowadays. Even though the librarian probably knew her by now, she still wouldn't gain any access. Leah had no choice but to turn around and head back to the outpost.

On her way back, she crossed the point where she, Matt and Zandrea met eachother. She stared in the direction of where she saw the suspicious figure again and to her surprise, saw Matt questioning them as now there were two, a male and a female. All of a sudden, the female ran, tears of blood beginning to run down her face. A vampire... Leah gasped and immediately ran over. "Matt, what's going on here?" She asked, exasperated and anxious.

Before he could say anything Chase was gone. "Well damn! My first contact with another person in weeks and now they're gone." Randy shrugged, "Oh well. Maybe Next time." He started walking back toward town with a stupid grin on his face. "I swear if it doesn't get dark soon this kindness is going to kill me!" Randy said with a smile on his face. "Nah... probably not. It's will be SOLDIER that kills me, and that's pretty positive if you ask a vampire." He continued talking to himself back into the city.

"Well, there was a person at the edge of the woods. When I yelled over to ask who she was and what she was doing she told me her name and ran off." Matt replied to Leah, slowly quickening his pace. "Stay here, I'll run after her and see what's wrong." Breaking into a run he quickly reached the entrance of the forest. Looking at the ground for possible footprints he saw droplets of what appeared to be blood.

Could she be hurt? If she was wouldn't she have cried out for help instead of fleeing? Matt didn't know what was wrong, but it made him feel uneasy. He continued running, following the droplets and foot steps and best as he could. He ran off course a few times but nevertheless he eventually caught up to her.

She was lying on the ground, rather unconscious or dead he couldn't tell as her face wasn't visible. He walked up a little closer and shook her asking her if she was alright.
