@TheUnknowable: I still don't really get the logic behind his problems with the school, but...whatever.
His parents were very strict, so he resented them and saw them as wardens or slave drivers. This continued through the strict private middle school they sent his to, including his teachers and the staff (military school with the military stuff replaced with academic stuff.). When he got to the Academy, he expected it to be the same, and transferred his resentment of virtually every authority figure he'd seen onto the school staff. This lead to him cynically believing that the freedoms they give him and the other students were another level of control. (in the words of the Merovingian from the Matrix, "choice is an illusion created between those with power and those without.")
Moving on, he couldn't have transferred from an American contractor school because, as I said in the OP, Covenant's meant to be unique in that regard.
Ok, I'll just make it a strict private school.
Also, I figure I should just throw this out there, because I really didn't explain it very well in the first post, but despite its location and how the grades/clubs work, the academy is an independent nation, separate from Japan.
So, it's a city-state like the Vatican, only its religion is contracting instead of Catholicism? (I know, it's not really a religion) So does the rest of the world know what it really is, or do they assume it's just a normal city-state?
In addition, this kind of bugged me before, but I figured there were more important things to comment on, the dwarf's personality seems extremely basic. A bit too one note for my liking, to be honest.
There isn't really a lot of lore about him. He's probably a Dwarf, and may have made Mjolnir, but that's about it. I'll make up some stuff that seems consistent, though.
Also, a freshman having the money to travel to and from Italy seems a little odd to me.
I was thinking of his parents as rich people, but I didn't specify that. I figured that contractors would automatically be rich, as their skills are so much better than normal humans. Edit: Ok, I think I fixed everything.
