Yep, you have your own free time to familiarize yourself with the facility and get to know your teammates better. I have no qualms with bunnying but its ultimately up to the individual players, I have used it a lot in the past with other role-plays, but with those the players and I were very good friends. 

Explore, improv a little if you want. Or just go to bed and wake up and start the real work (yawn).
