You could. Given that Macaroth is currently putting far more effort to his image as a sage and expanding his influence than he is to increasing his personal powers, he would be vulnerably to being usurped. Alternatively, on the off chance that Dawnon returns, you could simply put Macaroth in the background and focus on your own character's story in his service
