Um...at the risk of sounding stupid, could you explain affinities to me?

Affinities dictate what magic you're best at.

Toshiko's affinity is fire. She's absolute best at fire-based spells, but also does well with destruction, consumption, and ignition spells. This is because those are, conceptually, linked to fire.

Spells for anything else are harder for her to learn, though she's learned some others.

Ah, that makes sense.

Name: Satonaka Yosuke
Age: 22
Appearance: Yosuke
Personality: Yosuke is an introverted, brooding, cold and taciturn teenager who pushes away those who would otherwise be considered his friends. Yosuke usually thinks about things to himself and rarely talks. Most of the time in conversations he shrugs off interrogating or personal questions with a, "whatever" or "I don't care." Though withdrawn, Yosuke does not shrink from what he considers his duty. As much as he resents assuming leadership, he will be the first to ensure that what is necessary gets done. He is dedicated to his work and bettering the World. Even though everyone agrees Yosuke can be difficult to talk to and work with, people tend to admire his hard work and dedication. Yosuke's clear mind and sense of responsibility lead others to trust and follow him.

Abilities: Yosuke is skilled in the air affinity magic. His most notable skill is that after chanting a brief incantation he can send his bullets nearing the speed of light. The bullet are also covered in mana meaning that it can rip through Kevlar and other armor pretty easily. The downside to using this ability is the ability is dependent on the ammo Yosuke has. Yosuke also uses many air currents at a high velocity to attack and defend when he is not using his pistols.

Weapons/Equipment: Two Beretta Pistols in which he is able to channel his magic through as he has his ofuda engraved on the pistols. He also has a Ducati motorcycle which he uses to get places quickly.

Brief Backstory: The Satonaka Clan have been a family of Onmyouji for centuries. They have been hunting demons and trying to eradicate threats to humans by themselves. Unfortunately, this led to the death of most of the clan as their stubbornness got them killed. Yosuke is one of the last surviving member of the Satonaka clan. The other is his Grandmother who trained him in the arcane arts. He finally mastered the Satonaka's signature Air affinity and added his own twist by channeling it through his two pistols. He then decided to follow the path of his family's dream of eradicating demons, specifically the demon that killed his parents; however, he decided to work with others so that he wouldn't perish like the rest of his family. Therefore, Fu Sonzai no Gensō detective agency called to him and he joined up immediately despite his grandmother's disapproval.

@ice2365: While I'm not judging your entire bio as it is unfinished, I have to point out that eradicating the supernatural is a tremendously bad idea and also pretty firmly placed in the "evil" category. It would involve killing all demons, youkai, vampires, any other supernatural creatures, magi, onmyouji, anything holy(that's supernatural too)... basically it's probably not the best character motivation if you want them to be joining a Supernatural Detective Agency.
