Callum looked down at the ground as Leon and the GM left. "Well...." He looked around the entire group. "So that's a thing...I don't like how that's a thing...not at all" Callum sighed heavily as he lowered himself to the ground. "This is stupid.....Well...At least I have powers. So that's pretty cool" He rolled over onto his back. "I'm just going to stay here for a minute. Catch my breath...." Callum muttered as he closed his eyes.

One of his eyes opened again to look at Rae. "Yeah, that's a thing you must try and play. You'll love it. I promise" Callum gave a thumbs up.
"Actually like muse said to me. It is basically. Just gotta do it. Why not try fire or something. Basic stuff. Its easy" He grinned as he turned his head to the person he kept forgetting was there. "Oh...Hey there" Callum paused for Rae to talk to the person. Thankfully Rae said her name, or at least Callum hoped she said their persons name. "Uh....Books...right....That"

"Yea I'm Books." Books said pushing her hair from her face. "I have a habit of reading fantasy stuff and then believing that the stuff I read was real." She explained tilting her head slightly. "If you just have to believe in yourself to do something it almost seems like you're working on a project. Something important that you have to get finished quickly. Or like believing in yourself for a competition or a race!"

"oh good, i remembered, i'm normally bad about that, well, i'm Rae, if you forgot" she looked between the 2 of them.
"i'm not sure what you mean, should i just, i don't know, imagine a flame?" she was a little red, she wasn't used to people giving her attention, even this minute amount.she scratched the back of her head, looking at the pair over the top of her glasses, so she isn't really seeing them.
she imagined a flame in her hand, which she held loosely palm up in front of her, but nothing appeared. she sighed "maybe i'm not trying hard enough?"

For a moment, Leon wondered why his master kept asking questions to him if he wasn't expecting an answer. Then again, lots of other people talk to their pets, so why not GM? Well, whatever, Leon didn't mind being alone for a while. He could behave, he could be a good boy. Right? In fact, he was going to help GM! The man left his computer right open for anyone to walk in and use it against him. That wouldn't do at all, now would it. As such, Leon walked over to his master's laptop with the intent to close it.
.
.
.
Some time later, Leon found himself looking at whatever was open at the laptop instead. Unbeknownst to him, in the process he had hit a hotkey to release one of GM's premade monsters, which was now seeking out something to feed on (i.e. the crew down at the ground).

“It’s not a matter of trying.” Muse told Rae. “It’s a matter of believing- no, knowing.” he corrected himself, still attempting to explain the phenomenon. “You don’t see any flame, because part of you — probably a rather large part of you — still says it’s impossible. That’s what’s stopping you.” he explained. “Think of it like… like the placebo effect!” he exclaimed. “If you take a pill that does absolutely nothing, but you think it’s supposed to do something, then odds are you’ll still feel the effects even though the actual chemical make-up of that pill isn’t supposed to do anything. Same with a good-luck charm. If you believe that finding a four-leaf-clover will improve your performance in a test or a sports game you have later that day then it just might, despite the fact that a genetic anomaly in the clover population should have nothing to do with how well you do in math or basketball.” he explained. “The only reason a useless pill cured any sort of ailment or a weed allowed you to ace your math test was because you truly believed that these things could help you. If you didn’t believe that these things had any use, then they wouldn’t have helped you.” he elaborated. “Your powers in this world are like the placebo effect, only hugely amplified. If you really believe that you’re capable of firebending like a Nickelodeon anime character, then you will be. That’s why it worked on Callum here,” he gestured in the boy’s direction. “When I just told him, matter-of-factly, that he was capable of such things. Because when a doctor hands out placebo pills, they work a hell of a lot better when the patient isn’t aware they do jack squat and all the effects are just in… their head…”

Muse trailed off a bit as he became aware of what appeared to be a large shadow stretching over them. Hesitantly, he craned his neck around and looked up at the source of it. Above them, a jet-black bird creature blocked out the sun, its long, toothed beak hanging open hungrily as its fiery red eyes targeted the group. “…Well shit.” Muse muttered at the sight of the impending danger, the creature’s talons twitching excitedly as it dived down towards them.

Anyone who would follow Muse's gaze would see a giant black bird of prey, wings spread out wide as it was gliding around searching for an opening to attack. In between its size, the searing red eyes that left a contrast line on the deep ebony surrounding it and the primitive-looking toothed beak of a carnivorous flier, it was obvious that the monster was not born by natural means. This was indeed the case, seeing as it was one of GM's creations, released by accident by an oblivious Leon. Although the beast was originally meant to attack other flying creatures, it was still able to fight ground-based foes.
For some reason, the God-complex-given-physical-form had given the winged demon a cry that wouldn't misfit a parakeet, resulting in a somewhat surreal experience for anyone unlucky enough to be its target.

With a very uncharacteristic chirp for such a monster, the giant avian divebombed at Muse, far faster than one would expect of such a titanic creature. At the last moment this movement was turned into a swooping motions, claws extended towards his victim to grapple him -- someting which it would've been a lot more successful at if Muse wasn't so tiny in comparison to the creature. Instead, GM's enemy was only rammed to the ground. Still, in one fell swoop, the leader of the party was incapitated. With this threat taken care of, the feathered fiend turned its attention towards the rest of the crew, again letting out a strangely cute tweet.

Quickly, Muse looked between the group members, thinking of how to most efficiently shelter them all and what form to take on. However, glancing back upwards again, he realized that the bird creature moved a lot faster than he’d anticipated — and he barely had time to get out half a curse and a barely-successful flinch as the being’s claws suddenly had him crushed against the ground.

“D-dammit…” he muttered as he struggled to pull himself together, clutching his abdomen as he looked weakly up at the bird creature attacking the others. “Don’t worry about me!” he called out quickly. If the roleplayers were distracted helping him, then the bird could pick them off easy! Muse wasn’t worried about recovering — surely he could figure out a quick fix. But in the meantime, he had to make sure these kids could defend themselves. “Just focus on fighting that thing!” he yelled from the sidelines. “You guys know you have the power — so use it!”

Books stared at the bird. Oh god, Muse is down. WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO?! She was freaking out. Normally she kept her cool but this bird was like a jump scare in a video game. It almost appeared out of no where. C'mon Books! Calm down and think! She snapped at herself in her head. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, attempting to focus.

Rae was freaking out. there was a giant bird in front of her, and it had attacked muse, who had been attempting to give her a pep-talk.
to ease her panic she tought deeply about what muse had said, thinking to herself 'i have to believe'
looking at the bird she took a deep breath, took a second to remember how Zuko did it, and shifted into the starting position for fire-bending, because she was such a nerd she actually knew the starting position for firebending 'i have to believe' she thought again and slowly being to form an image of a small ball of flame going from her hand out as she shifted to the next position 'everyone's in danger, i can do this' she thought. she opened her eyes and changed position, a pitiful fireball spun away from her hand, it didn't even fly far enough to hit the bird. but now she knew she could do it.

Callum slowly turned his head just as Muse did. And at almost the exact same time muttered "Oh shit" before the Bird attacked muse. Rendering him wounded. "Oh shit!" He muttered once again as he started to jog backwards. Making sure to keep sight on the bird. Callum listened to what Muse had to say. He did notice Rae actually spit out some fire. If only it could reach the bird. If only it was in a better situation. Suddenly the bird swooped toward Callum. Callum started to run sideways, which he always thought was a better idea then just running straight forward which made no sense because the bird was obviously faster then him. Just before the bird grabbed him, Callum ducked to the right. The large bird smashed him on the shoulder. Causing him to spin around, straight into the ground. Very hard. "AAH" Callum punched the ground with pain

"Ow Ow Ow" Callum muttered hastily, he staggered back uptowards the bird. This was the time to use his powers. Ice always worked against flying type. I better use Ice Beam. Callum focused for a second, and sudden a beam of ice, or rather energy that froze the air around it shot towards the bird. Hopefully it would hit. Since Callum was already in pain.

AS bizarre as Callum's logic might've been, it actually proved effective this time; the ray of cold struck the bird's rear, forming a clump of ice around its tail, this in turn severely hindering the beast's ability to turn and manoeuvre. As a result, its already quite large turning circle was increased even more, further highlighting the creature's problems with operating so low. Where in the air it could fly, twist and turn in all directions and use gravity to accelerate to great speeds, this strategy was severely limited here by a certain thing called the ground. Soon the demon had lost just about all of its speed, forcing it to land, creating a small tremor upon impact. The only problem --for Callum, that is-- is that his attack didn't actually kill the avian, meaning that he now had one very angry feathered carnivore seeing him as a primary target. With a loud chirp, the bird spread its wings out in what was most likely an attempt to intimidate the man, then folded them back as it ran toward its new target. As for Rae; seeing as her attack never even touched the monster, it didn't see her as a threat at this moment.

Books opened her eyes and focused on the bird. Believe in yourself Books. You can do this! She thought and she closed her eyes again. She felt something form in her right hand and she opened her eyes. In her hand was a ball of rock. She hurtled it at the bird. "Hey birdy over here!" She yelled trying to draw its attention off of Callum.

“Well shave my head and call me Twinkle-toes…” Muse muttered with a strained smile on his face, watching virtually all the roleplayers — even the more skeptical ones — exercise their choice elemental powers. Even Callum, who’d gotten hit almost as badly as Muse, was still able to fight the thing. “It’s super effectiv- ah!” Muse attempted to cheer from the sidelines, though he clutched his stomach in pain again as he staggered to his feet. Still, he managed to shoot Callum a thumbs-up and a grin to show his encouragement, at least.

"YES!......ow ow" Callum raised his fists in the air and shook violently. Which turned out to be somewhat of a bad thing to do. Since it hurt him like hell. But Callum frowned as the bird hit the ground, because sadly he hadn't realized that if he didn't kill or seriously injure this bird. It would probably be pissed. Sadly, it was pissed. And it was running straight at him, wings unfolded. "Oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit!" Callum stumbled as fast as he could. He was in too much pain to run properly. "Ow ow, Come on!" Callum noticed rocks hitting the bird in the face. It was still running at him very fast, but maybe whoever was doing that could keep doing that and hopefully slow it down or something. He then noticed Muse giving him a thumbs up. "HELP!" He shouted at him as the bird was right before him.

Think, Think what to do what to do what to do what to do!. He was pretty sure he heard the birds beak snap right behind him. In his panic the only thing he could think to help himself was a sword. A generic double edge sword to be exact. He didn't really have much time to think. And he knew that he could of thought of many things that could help with a lot more then a sword. but right now the bird was right behind him. Just as the sword appeared in his hand, He spun around and swung in the general direction he thought the bird was at. "AHBH DON'T KILL ME PLEASE!"

Rae was more confident this time, and carefully face the bird, she actually came towards the bird quite a bit, and was scared about the proximity.
still she repeated her gestures and a slightly more powerful fireball went for the bird's side, she really hoped she hit this time and was aware she would probably have to run because of it, unless it went after books first, then she'd just try to conjure an actually effective fireball, as both of her previous ones had been pretty weak.

Kole wasn’t sure if he wanted to get awesome powers just yet, despite how cool that would be. In fact the only thing on his mind at the moment was getting his phone fixed so he could try and call someone or something, maybe he could access google maps to find out where he was. With GM and such gone the group he was wish relaxed and chatted with each other as Muse and Callum tried to convince the rest of them about believing themselves to get their powers. Was he been the only person here to have his phone on him?

Once again Kole couldn’t help but scrutinise the idea and decided on the fact that something about this place had changed them in some way. Something in the atmosphere maybe? He liked Muses explanation that likened their powers to the placebo effect as it sounds somewhat more scientific.

“Well I’ve got nothing to lose.” Kole had spoken to himself followed with a deep breath. “I can fix my phone.” He had muttered with closed eyes and phone held on his open palm in front of him.

Then the ground leapt as a giant bird rammed into it at speed. With a yelp of surprise Kole fell to the ground and stared at the beast that possessed a tweet that didn’t belong to it. Sitting there frozen in fear Koles eyes followed the bird storm after Callum with vengeance. What could he do? Kole didn’t have any powers, he had no idea what power he had or how to use it or what to do or-

Clutched tightly in his hand Koles phone vibrated and ripped him out of his circular thoughts. Looking down at the screen Koles eyes grew wide at the familiar nine circles of the unlock screen. He had fixed his phone. Ignoring all else on the screen Kole unlocked the phone still racking his head on what to do. No bars. No luck.

What the hell was he doing? The thought shrieked through his mind. There was a giant bird nearby and here he was trying to make a call! What the heck was he going to say ‘yes hello there, I have a giant bird problem please do the helping thing’? Heart hammering away and with ragged breath an unexpected thoughts popped into Koles head. The World Ends With You was a DS game he had very much enjoyed and one of the characters used their phone to fight by summoning things into existence above the enemy. Kole had a phone, not that it really worked as a phone, and according to the others just believing he could do something just by believing he could. No it wasn’t just a silly idea it was fact! He had believed he could fix his phone, albeit somewhat half-heartedly, and here it was working properly. With jittery thumbs Kole typed into the search bar on his phone.

With a flicker of light and a pop of air moving out of the way an object appeared a few feet above the bird. It was very big, rectangle-ish with many windows, seats and four wheels. For a moment that bus sat happily up in the sky with the word ‘Bird’ on its destination sign. Then it fell.

The bird's initial charge at Callum was foiled when a big stone block was flung into its face, this in turn staggering it just long enough for Callum to slash the beast's chest with a sword he had managed to summon out of thin air. Although these injuries at their own were still not life-threatening, the monster's movements started to become a bit sluggish. Or at least they were until the giant avian's side was set ablaze by a fireball. Screeching in pain, the bird wildly smashed its wings against its side to smother the flames, only succeeding due to the fire not having grown too much yet.

In between its hind being frozen, being hit in the face with big chunks of stone, slashed with a sword and being sturck with a fireball, the bird's energy was starting to sap a bit; it just wasn't built for a fight like this, and it showed. Still, it wasn't to give up just like that. In fact, its builder designed is to that it would quite literally fight to the death in any and all circumstances. Where most beings would become fearful when surrounded by several enemies and just try to break out and run away, the roc instead would just become more filled with rage. Now really pissed, the beast once again tried to dash at Callum, who just happened to be the closest target at this point... at the exact same moment a very large and very heavy object decided to obey gravity. Sadly for the bird, its head happened to be in between said object and the ground, coating everything in the blast radius in a chunky red pulp. The now headless body still twitched for a moment before finally all movement ceased.

Callum staggered back with the sword making him fall backwards a bit. It hit the bird,, and thanks to everyone's effort. The bird hadn't eaten him yet, sadly though. It seemed that this just made it even more pissed. Most of Callum's energy was gone now. He was probably going to die. He closed his eyes as the bird got ready to attack him again. But then all he heard was something smashing against the ground, and liquid splashing all over him. As he opened his eyes to see what the hell happen. He couldn't help but mutter "Holy balls" as right in front him was a bus.He was uncomfortable close to the bus, and as Callum guessed that it fell out of the air. He could of got crushed by it as well.

He looked at the now completely dead bird's separated head. Even though it tried to kill him, and it nearly did. He couldn't help but feel a tiny bit weird. was it guilt? No, more like oh look a dead bird...aww feeling that he felt a lot of times. "If only you didn't try to eat me" Callum mumbled as he wiped the blood from his eyes. He was completely drenched in that stuff, seeing as he was right next to the bird when it got hit by the magical flying bus.

He turned around to the rest of the group. "Thank you.....Especially you Kole. That was you right?" Callum grinned as he pointed towards the bus. "Woo...we...all....have....power-" Suddenly Callum staggered back and fell to the ground. "Ow"

Rae dropped to the ground "now we need someone to summon water"
she leaned over, all the panic that had allowed her to act was slipping out of her, kind of like the bird guts that were currently seeping out of the dead "i think i'm gonna be sick"
she settled to her knees, one hand out to hold her up the other around her stomach. "good job Kole" she smiled at the boy "Callum, Muse? are you guys alright?"
she tried to count the members around her but her glasses were dreadfully dirty, she slid them off, everyone was fuzzy, which actually made them look worse, like blobs of bird guts, it creeped her out but it was better then looking at bird guts through the magnification of her glasses.
"so ... uh ... we're pretty awesome, right?"

Muse couldn’t help but squint his eyes in confusion as he watched the bus appear in the sky, his expression changing to a very “what the fuck” sort of face before the bus started to fall, causing him to flinch and instinctively summon one wing to sprout from his back and swing out in front of him, at least blocking the rest of his body from most of the gory spray.

“Haha, yes, we are pretty awesome.” Muse laughed as his single wing vanished again. “Or at least, you guys are awesome. Hah!” Pausing to take a few deep breaths, it didn’t take long before his pain started to subside — healing powers followed essentially the same principles as attacking powers, after all, even if there were a few limits. “Congrats on getting the hang of your powers, all of you!” he told them as he approached the group again. “I knew you guys could do it!” he grinned. “I just didn’t expect your powers to come in the form of a large bus falling from the sky.” he laughed.
