America's taken...damn. Rebellion time. Faction Name: The Socialist Movement (Otherwise known as The Southpaws) Type: Rebel faction inside the Empire of America Assets: The mountains of Northern California are crawling with Southpaws, the same is for Oregon. They use them as camouflage against military satellites, and tend to dig tunnels that can well underground (Though they are highly unsanitary and act as more of rat tunnels than anything) The Rocky Mountains see a lot of activity as well. Note that they do not control any physical land, they just are well known and recruit people in these regions. Due to financial restrictions, weaponry and supplies are stolen through the pillaging of military bases nearby and the derailing of cargo trains. Because of the distaste of a Socialist Regime from the wealthy and noble, the Southpaws see them as targets. Wealthy can be found from time to time killed inside their luxurious homes, with the rest of the house torn down as well. This is their primary way of earning money, through selling stolen goods through the black market. They can also be seen robbing banks, taking a small portion of the cash and leaving it for the rest of the people inside. Because of this, the Southpaws are seen as the poor man's hero and the wealthy's villain. It has also been said that they smuggle illegal substances from the Mexican-American border to Canada. Usual gear can range from advanced weaponry to rifles and explosives. All advanced weaponry is stolen military cargo. Clothing is standard camouflage clothing with a light bullet proof vest. Green caps and hats are the more common form of headgear, but helmets are also notable. The standard form of transport is via truck, which usually is equipped with an operable turret. Air craft is next to none, it must be stolen hardware. The same is for other military vehicles, though tanks can be hijacked from time to time. The major advantage the Socialist movement holds is a vast supply of explosives. Land mines, javelins, C4, etc. Weapons of Mass Destruction are usually hidden, if they even hold them. Who knows what they can find in the derailed train/plane? Some nicknames/allied cells: The Machine- Socialist broadcasting station The Green Caps- Workers union that is located in major cities and regions of intense production. The Horde- Any Socialist in the mid west region, most commonly used outside of California, Oregon, Washington, and the Rockies. Chicago, Detroit, and Pittsburgh are major areas. The Reds-Nickname from the Sons of Liberty The Southpaws- Popular nickname given by people living inside the Western Coast. Now it is the general nickname. History: Those who opposed the idea on forming America into an Empire were very split on what it truly should be. Most wanted to return to a democracy, which sparked massive conflict inside the original states of the US. Elsewhere, such as the Appalachian mountains, a massive wealth gap was easily seen among the poor. They formed a rebellion, which swung the economy on a downturn of coal production for nearly three months. They are perceived as the first socialist movement inside America, and the pioneers that paved way for the Southpaws. During WWIV, which saw the worst wealth gap seen inside the Empire, a group of well armed men robbed a well known bank in Denver, Colorado. They were seen ripping the vault open and leaving it for the people to take. Elsewhere, others began to hear of these actions, and took it on themselves to commit other acts of heroism. A group of nearly two dozen armed men-almost soldier-like- raided a military train that was bringing supplies to the war front. They took what they could hold-several trucks were used to load the cargo- and left for Oregon. Along the Interstate 5 route (Branching from California to across Oregon) groups began raids on wealthy cars and getaway mansions. Casinos were attacked as well. Military personnel were finally issued to the area to protect the wealthy and suppress the movement, which was not fully recognized as a terrorist cell until after the war. This is because there was no real organization, just a match that lit the wildfire inside the Midwest. No real leader was recognized until rumors of a "mike" spread across San Francisco. A few months later, the city mayor-who had committed tax evasion numerous times- was shot and killed at the local thanksgiving parade. A flag was hung outside the window of the sniper nest, which showed a blue hammer and sickle on a red and white striped background. The police found a note in the room, which said "Love, Mike" Other: Mike is a pseudonym. His real name is not known, nor do many people know it. He has conversed with Mexican cartels and south american governments by letter. The writing is sloppy, indicating he may be using his opposite hand to write with, or someone else is writing it. Other times, the letter is used with an old type writer. It is unknown what Mike's old job was before he became the supposed leader of the Socialist Movement. In actuality, Mike not even be real. (I am using the perspective of other people, not always one person)
