[i] A good headset goes a long way- specially if you're a gamer (I am- haha).
I know your pain- Best Buy and places that have nifty things are my vice- I love gadgets and such.
Let me mess with your clip in audacity and see if it changes anything. If it does- you could totally just use that;
and then you won't go bankrupt trying to get a new mic xP
