I guess with Robin Williams, he was a household name and beloved for his timeless movies. I loved almost everything he was in and he was hilarious. Yes, he's just a celebrity who we didn't know personally but he had been an icon of a generation. Seeing him die in such a sad way strikes a cord in most people's hearts.

Its kinda like how Michael Jackson died. He didn't commit suicide but he was [I]the[/I] Michael Jackson. Those who loved his work were devasted from his loss. Sam with Whitney Houston. Many people didn't know them personally but their fans still heavily mourned for their loss.

I think with Robin Williams its just no one saw it coming. Yes, he's been trying to get back in the game and his latest work hadn't been as amazing as Hook or Jumanji, but to see a well-known comedian go out like that is shocking.
