He is the first to laugh at a joke, and the last to give in to anger. When he was still in the districts he would often carry the children on his shoulders, giving them free rides. He loves being surrounded by happiness and as such does his best to spread it wherever he goes. He also cannot bring himself to belittle others, if they have made a mistake he corrects them in the kindest way he can without sacrificing their development. Despite this he is first and foremost a guardian of all that is good and innocent. In his district days he would protect the children from anyone that wished them harm, taking the blows in their place. Since he joined the Gotei 13 he has kept this personality. In battle he makes sure that he is on the frontlines of the battlefield, absorbing damage while his fellow shinigami make their way into battle positions. History: Kencho-jo never resided in a single district in the Rukongai, rather he traveled amongst them at his leisure. While his time in the districts closer to the Seireitei were quite peaceful, a little more than a leisure walk, he often found himself quite a bit busier in the outer districts. He offered his services to groups that were being harassed by gangs or other types of criminals. Whenever they tried repaying him for this he would merely shake his head, before continuing his travels. He lost track of the years as he moved from one district to another, all of them blending together in a seamless flow. One day he found himself in front of one of the entrances to the Seireitei, and realized that he could protect even more people by joining the Gotei 13. So without any further ado he made his choice. He led a rather uneventful tenure throughout the years, simply serving which ever Division he currently was assigned to faithfully. It wasn’t until he was suddenly promoted to the position of Lieutenant that his life began to get exciting once more. He worked as his Captains primary guardian, and at times he was even loaned out to other Captains if they believed that he was neccesary. A few decades ago he was transferred to the 10th Division, where he currently remains.

The Shield completely covers his forearm, and stretches a bit in every direction. Shikai Skills: Kyōka(Fortify): Slamming his shield down in front of him, typically on the ground, Kencho-jō speaks the name of this technique causing his shield's sharp outer edges to extend outwards by two feet per edge. After this extension occurs the space between the main shield and the extended edges near instantaneously fills with super dense reiryoku, which solidifies the closer it is to Kencho-jō, whereas the outer surface pushes anything that hits it to either side of the shield typically causing attacks to slide off without losing much of their momentum. This technique also offers a sort of bunkering effect to Kencho-jō's body, stabilizing his stance and digging his feet slightly into the ground to more or less temporarily anchor him to the spot making it a very powerful defensive ability for headon attacks as long as he can react fast enough to face them. Tsuke yobōsen(External guard): A technique with mutiple functions, Tsuke yobōsen focuses the defensive power of Kencho-jō's shikai in the three bladed portions of his shield, namely the two edges and the small straight blade at the top of the defensive implement. The technique comes into play in one of two ways, either Kencho-jō extends the two edges similar to when he utilizes Kyōka. or he more or less attempts to cut someone with any of the three bladed portions of the shield. When the edges are extended, Kencho-jō can aim his shield in any direction, typically with the shield facing in the same direction that an attack i coming from, and extent a roughly rectangular shield of super dense reiryoku with roughly the same composition and purpose as that which is seen in Kyōka. This shield is the same width as his own from top to bottom, but can be as long as he wishes it to be. Additionally, the shield can bend, allowing him to wrap it around people to defend them from attacks. The second application of this technique is slightly more offense oriented, but only vaguely so as it is more of an active countermeasure than anything else. Instead of extending the edges of his shield and creating the reiryoku shield, he keeps them retracted and channels his massive reiryoku through his zanpakuto. This reiryoku is quickly gathered to the three bladed portions of the implement and the effects are only presented when one of the aforementioned makes contact with an opponent, an attack, or generally anything that is meant to be harmful and can be physically repelled in some manner. When one, or all, of the edges comes into contact with the aforementioned, a powerful field of reiryoku is emitted from the blade, typically strong enough to send even a captain level opponent flying several meters away. This is caused by a reverberation, or absorp and return, effect. Basically the attacking force is absorbed and then redirected in the opposite direction, sending the projectile, or individual, flying in the opposite direction at roughly the same, or greater, velocity. Bunpai suru(Apportion): By charging a considerably massive amount of his reiryoku into his shield, stating the name of this technique, and then rapidly extending the edges of his zanpakuto, Kencho-jō activates this technique. Upon activation a powerful shockwave of reiryoku bathes his allies, and opponents, in Hogo-sha's influence. This causes all of his allies to gain a skin tight reactive barrier, which defends against, and absorbs most attacks below the power of a level 50 Hadō spell. For each attack this shield absorbs, Kencho-jō's shield gains more defensive power and can create an even larger shield, or even send of powerful repelling waves of reiryoku, though they do no damage on their lonesome. If a shield is broken, the power gathered through attacks made on those defended by said shields will be divvied to the undefended individual, temporarily boosting their endurance and physical abilities for around 1-3 minutes depending on how much relative power has been absorbed through the shields. Enemies who are bathed in the reiryoku of this technique feel something of a compulsion not to attack those who are defended, but instead to attack Kencho-jō. This technique is based on both Kencho-jō and his sword spirit's willingness to defend and take as many hits for the team as are necessary so that everyone may survive to live another day. During the use of this technique, it should be noted that Kencho-jō is capable of using his shield to generate a spherical barrier around himself. Any damage, or force, that Kencho-jō takes/blocks while using this technique is used to bolster the shields of his allies. Obviously the technique can only be upheld as long as he has reiryoku to keep it going and as long as there is a steady feed of force/damage delivered to the shields. Bankai Appearance: NYA
