A beautiful but dark idea I did had best friends, with the female constantly trying to get the guy a girlfriend, not wanting him to feel lonely as she was already with somebody.

She ends up pregnant from her boyfriend, who leaves her. Her best friend helps her through the heartbreak, and they end up kissing, though don't go any further, nor discuss it.

While he is on holiday, she miscarries the child and sinks into a depression. He returns as soon as he finds out, ending up with him refusing to let her be alone during the grief and heartbreak she feels from the loss.

They grow closer then ever during this, and end up becoming a couple.
