Don't kill yourself trying to come up with a weapon specific to the town, that's really only for flavor. I'm more worried about your character being specific to the city than their weapon (though what weapon a character uses says a lot about them).

So, for instance, Portland could easily be a weed-smoking hipster with a Glock. The weapon's not unique, sure, but the character is.
