Cadmus flew back to his sanctum within the school, back through the oculus in the ceiling. He rested back on the pillow in the circular room, beneath the smooth ceiling. He looked up at the stars. Despite his milennia of life, he still didn't understand them all. There was much he didn't know. The dragon had devoted much of his life to the pursuit of knowledge, and he had opened up the Crescent Academy to that end. This wasn't the first danger the school had faced, nor would it be the last. He had like for thousands of years and would live thousands more. Whoever challenged him or the school was either very powerful, insane, incredibly foolish, or all of the above. Zmerr had been a faithful member of the academy, even though he wasn't a student. He had been around for quite a while, and even he seemed to be shaken by the event. In the meantime, Asthia walked down the hallway with Bryce.
