Vera "Sure you could have, Sam," Vera whispered back oozing sarcasm. She shot him a playful smirk. Really, didn't know- and didn't want to know- who would win that fight. Valjean was ruthless and Sam had a mostly good head on his shoulders it seemed. It would be a shame if he lost it. Chris' arrival surprised Vee in more ways than one. She heard tell that he was coming back, but to actually see him now... She felt like she should say something. Like a "Hi" or a "How are you?" or maybe "Can I try growing your arm back?" She frowned at Vespera, but didn't otherwise dignify her with a reply to her rude comment. She had all the sensitivity of a cold brick. Vee pointedly looked away from Valjean and ignored him as he went on his rant. Listening to his jabber would only serve to aggravate her further; A true waste of her precious energy. She thought about something else and Ethan came to mind. She missed him on the boat and over the summer, if she was to be completely honest with herself. The fresh wave of rage brought her focus to Deborah when she came more than her words. Her exchange with Valjean put a knot in her stomach and she shot a quick look back to where she came from only to find Shannon looking right back at her. Vee didn't need to be an empath to see she wasn't amused. "Don't worry about it, Henry," She said to his apology. Better him than her or anyone else for that matter. Her mood brightened considerably when Tess wheeled Dana over to their little group. She smiled when Tess looked at her and was prepared to return her greet until she followed it up with a question. It jarred her for a second, switching topics like that, but by the time Henry echoed her question, she had a response. Vee supposed it was a little strange not having him in her shadow, but she insisted it was good for him to branch out of his comfort zone. "Yeah, he's probably in the admin building looking for his roommate," She guessed with a light shrug, "I'll walk with you." Vee checked back to Sam. "You coming?" Ethan Ethan accidentally bristled when someone touched his shoulder. He wasn't a fan of physical contact, especially touches of the unexpected variety. Inwardly, he cringed at his own reaction and managed a hasty recovery, forcing his shoulders to settle as he slowly turned to face the shoulder-tapper. On instinct, he looked up since most people were taller than him, but to his surprise, he had to drop his eyes several inches to meet the eyes of the other boy. He blinked owlishly a few times. "H-Hello?" He choked out, "Can I help you with something?" He looked a little bit younger than him, but even if he was a new student, Ethan wasn't totally sure how he would help him.
