Once Iikkem touches the cube, will we need much else before the collab is posted? Other than some formatting edits and Nierefiem telling the group they've been given the ability to morph, it looks like we'd be ready to roll On a teambuilding excercise/character development note, I'm reviving a question brought up in the original Animorphs Roleplay: If they could acquire any morph, what would your character's signature morph/spirit animal/favorite morph be?
Don't you mean Iikk
a?
I've been thinking about Theo's morph. His book counterpart is obviously Marco, whose choice is to become a Gorilla. I think the Gorilla works well for Marco, who has to be stronger than he is to support his father and cope with the news of his mother.
Theo, on the other hand, doesn't have much in the way of family drama. Things go pretty well for Theo, probably too well. He's angsty and irritated by the move from NYC, and a bit frustrated that he doesn't fit in at school. Theo is pretty much the loner and outcast right now, he's not entirely social and probably doesn't need to be. To this end, Theo seems most like a big cat, or a lone wolf, something equally dangerous alone or in a pack.
I've always wondered why Jake's animal was the tiger. Perhaps due to his reluctance to take the leadership role, but it seemed odd to me that his morph wasn't something more like the male lion. Still a cat, still plenty independent, but head of the pack and willing to show power when necessary. That seems more like a leadership morph than the Siberian Tiger.
If I had to pick for Theo, I might go with something like a Snow Leopard or Caracal, or the Timberwolf. I would be reluctant to go for Timberwolf if I had a choice, but the species fits the region and wouldn't turn too many heads. The cats seem to fit better, but I have a feeling cats are going to be popular with this group (I may be wrong). In any case, I really like the idea of a small big cat, or a medium-sized cat as opposed to the tiger or lion varieties that would draw most people. I see Theo as someone who would happily sneak into a place and take down prey (Yeerks) quickly without making a big fuss, as opposed to drawing lots of attention with a big morph like a bear, big cat or ape.
As I glanced at
Wikipedia's helpful list of extant predators I noticed that most land-based predator animals are mostly canine, cat or snake, with a few exceptions. The first two seem like the only viable attack morphs, as a snake or lizard would be too slow (and in the case of a snake, too difficult to maneuver) to use properly in a high-risk environment. There might be some better resources out there, or a classification I hadn't considered, but this is what I found.
Sorry for the long-winded answer, it just kept coming out.
