This is true.
So long as you put thought into it even a canon magic can become more. 
For example... 
I have a character in another RP. He uses Fire Dragon Slayer magic. Now I could have just used the basic canon spells, but I would use my own attacks and add more because essentially anything is possible. 
Also a friend and I have created a new Fire Dragon Slayer form using a magic he made up called Phoenix magic or something along those lines.
So much can be done with anything if you put your mind to it. Especially when it's OC and you have free rain over it x3

EDIT: soren. being that you have the people you should make the OOC. Especially since it'd be kind of pointless for them to post here and then have to repost the characters again. And essentially the interest check already did its job. lol let it rest XD
