Perhaps as a result of his difficult childhood, Alex is a cold individual, both paranoid and borderline sociopathic. Most notably, prior to his human death at Penn Station, he released the deadly Blacklight virus simply to spite those who denied him information. His motivations and plans are utterly personal and he rarely takes human cost into account, being able to murder scores of humans without remorse or hesitation.

Unfortunately, after repeated betrayals and mishaps during his time away from NYZ after the initial outbreak, Alex's worldview became increasingly cynical and nihilistic. He decided that stopping the outbreak was a mistake and started a new one himself to usher in a new race; he claimed he was making a better world by doing so. In his new role as the leader of the Infected, Alex pursued his goal of spreading the virus in a far more active and aggressive manner than Elizabeth Greene ever did, even inserting spies within both Blackwatch and Gentek and using their resources and scientists to do so.[/center]

[center][b][u]Backstory[/u][/b]
In the beginning...he was Alex J. Mercer.

A scientist working for Gentek Industries, the business that would be his downfall. The events that had caused this transformation is...hazy, but everything after that is a bit more clear. He had woke up...in a morgue, with scientists talking over his cold body. Out of shock, surprise, and fear, Alex had killed and consumed the scientists, not even knowing what he had done. Shaken from this event, the Virus shambled through the building, attracting unnecessary attention until he found the exit and entered an alley-way. There, he learned of some of his power, hopping an incredibly large steel fence and taking off running at scary speeds not long after. To make an incredibly long story short, Alex went through many betrayals, hardships, and quests, until he was finally killed by the very man that he had infected with the Virus. Then...he woke up here....[/center]

He is far stronger than any normal human or most basic Infected. His true strength is unknown, but it is thought to be Godly.[/i]

[i]Superhuman Speed - Alex's speed is likewise enhanced. He can achieve running speeds surpassing sport vehicles, and perhaps faster..[/i]

[i]Superhuman Agility - He can perform amazing parkour feats such as flips and rolls and maneuvers over and around vehicles and debris with little trouble.[/i]

[i]Superhuman Endurance - Mercer's endurance far exceeds that of a human's by leaps and bounds. His body no longer possesses weak bones or vital organs, and thusly, most physical harm doesn't harm him at all..[/i]

[i]Superhuman Senses - Alex's vision and hearing is enhanced, allowing him to see beyond the visible spectrum and hear across great distances even with physical insulation.[/i]

[i]Regeneration- Alex's regen allows him to instantly regenerate from most wounds as soon as they happened, thus his endurance..[/i]

[I]Shapeshifting - Alex can shift into anything he has consumed, and he regains the knowledge of the thing he has consumed. Similarly, he can turn any parts of his body into anything of his imagination, although he mostly uses his Blade arm(s), Claws, Whip Blade, Hammer-Fists, and anything dealing with tendrils and spikes. He has consumed millions of people and creatures as well.[/hider]
