Vanessa stared out the window at the looming skyscrapers that were coming into view. She gazed out at the towering buildings in awe. They were completely different from the spaceship she'd grown up in, or the little rundown huts she'd seen on some of the planets where the ship had occasionally touched down. A rude honking sound brought her back to reality, and she glanced guiltily at Heretic and Genesis squished awkwardly in the seat beside her. "S-sorry about that," she stammered out apologetically. Taking a breath, she re-focused her attention on the road before her. As she clumsily maneuvered the car through the twisting streets of some city that she hadn't bothered to remember the name of, Vanessa surveyed the two other passengers. Heretic was as calm and as taciturn as usual, and Genesis was unusually quiet for the time being. Vanessa briefly thought of 'Isabella' sitting in the trunk and the side of her lip twitched, threatening to break into a grin. Finally, finally, she reached the casino. Vanessa took a moment to gape up at the humongous building, and she shuddered, thinking of the Four Horsemen who were supposedly plotting away somewhere in the skyscraper. Snapping back to the situation at hand, she drove the car into the parking garage, and found the closest spot as she could to the exit-which wasn't very near the exit anyway. The garage was packed. When Vanessa pulled the keys out of the ignition, she leaned back and let out a sigh of relief. "Thank a deity of your choice that's over with," she muttered under her breath, closing her eyes for a second, then reopening them. "So, guys," she said, eyeing Heretic and Genesis, knowing that they'd be grateful to untangle themselves from each other. "Was my driving terrible, or was it terrible?"
