Location: Laboratory room 12 - Subject Varanid
"Tell me, Subject Varanid, how are we feeling today?" A chipper, somewhat elderly woman in a lab coat said as she leaned over a young man with a clip board clenched in her hand. Dimitri sighed and shifted a bit on the examination table he was seated on, it had been the same routine for him ever since he'd arrived a little over a month ago, just enough time to get over the fact that his real name was barely ever used. "A bit better than last time doctor, the stiffness in my back and pain in my joints has disappeared." He said as the scientist scribbled something down on her clipboard, "I see, and how are we adjusting to our new extremities?" she inquired, eliciting a slight frown from Dimitri, "If you're referring to my tail, i'm learning how to control it, though it's still a tad bit weird-", Dimitri said as he slowly raised the six foot long appendage and gave it a small experimental flick "-as for my mouth, well, you can see for yourself." he finished before opening his mouth widely. The scientist leaned in to examine the two massive rows of sharp teeth that sprouted from Dimitri's gums, then snatched a small cotton swab from the the small tray next to the table and pulled on his forked tongue slightly, "Good, good. You seem to be in good health, perhaps even good enough to continue testing tomorrow, provided we continue your medication of course..
Dimitri retracted his tongue and snapped his jaws shut with an audible click, "Are you...are you certain? What if..." he was cut off by the scientist raising a gloved hand, "No need to worry, we've increased the dosage of your injections to ensure that another "incident" doesn't occur again.", "I don't know...", "Subject Varanid, need I remind you that you signed a legally binding contract? If you're not willing to participate we could always just send you back out.". The woman's threat to boot Dimitri out was a lie of course, but Dimitri had no way of knowing that, and as with every time the lie was used, Dimitri's reaction was to waved his hands frantically with a worried expression, "NO, no no no, i'll do the test! I don't want to go back to being homeless, please!" he said hurriedly. Unlike many of the others, Dimitri was one of the very few that had come to Fall of his own volition rather than being abducted, though when he'd agreed, he'd never imagined that 'just completing a few tests' would mean turning him into a mutant. Despite the transformation and testing, Dimitri felt as though his life was much better than it was when he'd lived in Ukraine, he had a place to sleep and three meals a day.
The scientist nodded and patted him on the shoulder, "It's alright, just continue to cooperate and i'll ensure that you continue to have a place to stay.". Dimitri sighed once more and nodded his head, "Splendid! Now then, we've also managed to finish setting up a spot for you in residential. Now, normally we'd hold you here in the lab for a bit longer, but given the fact that you've been so complacent with us from the start, your wait was shortened.", Dimitri perked up a bit, "You mean I won't be sleeping in that holding cell again?" he inquired, "Not unless you want to.". The woman ushered Dimitri off of the examination table and lightly grabbed his wrist as he towered over her, "Now then Subject Varanid, i'll show you to your room. Just continue to behave and we'll be able to do this without assistance from the security personnel.", "T-thank you..." Dimitri said sheepishly as he allowed himself to be dragged off towards residential.
