Evelyn nodded as the man asked for water and cloth. She turned on the water and the stove, heating the buckets and then pouring them into the tub as the man bathed. She didn’t turn on any sort of light besides a dim oil lamp or two, able to see very well in her own home of course. She could see the man even better than her own furniture and belongings though. His skin… it practically glowed it was so white. She was of a pale nature but there was a golden glow of life that circled her visage. His carried none. She shivered slightly at the thought but continued to help him, bringing him a strip of linen from the closet which she watched his thin fingers tie around his eyes. She was grateful for that at least. Seeing the condition he was in had to be ten times more painful for him to feel, but it hurt her heart to see one of God’s creatures suffer so. She went to the bedroom closet and the smell of her husband hit her like a wave. She hesitated, hand lifted about to touch one of his shirts when memories began trying to force their way into her mind. ”You’re gone now,” she whispered under her breath, furrowing her brow and snatching a shirt and pants for the man. She closed the closet once more and set them in a chair beside the bed, seeing him having gotten from the tub and now sitting at her table. She walked in slowly, seeing his effects on the table, swords of all things… barbaric. There was a picture too, but Evelyn stopped herself from prying her eyes to see it and instead stood a few feet from the man, hands folded in the pleats of her nightgown, having removed her coat upon entering earlier and leaving it tossed upon the couch. He couldn’t see her anyway so she hadn’t thought twice. His voice broke the silence of the night as he revealed his name, and his words made her give a slight smile. ”You’re very welcome Mithias… I laid some clothing next to the bed where you can sleep if you like. I’ve never taken to the room so you wouldn’t be intruding,” she said, curious about the man’s accent. Was he from somewhere north? Cold and dark? Thus his complexion? Now she was trying to rationalize. ”I do have some questions I would like answered while you stay and heal but they can wait til you’ve rested. If you need to rest…” she said, an unsureness in her voice that said she wasn’t sure about whether or not he was even capable of resting like a normal human.
