Ecological Information: Mars lacks any native life, recently introduced are species of first and second stage artificial terraforming organisms. A sort of broad leaf and rapidly reproducing grass was the first organism introduced some eighty years ago, now visible on 40% or so of the Martian landmass the grass is designed to thrive in the Martian iron rich soil and convert a measurable amount of CO2 into oxygen. The grass also serves the dual purpose of preparing the planet for second stage organisms by creating thicker and more nutrient rich soil. These second stage organisms are large trees with leaves far larger than that seen on Earth as to absorb more the sparse Martian sunlight. These organisms are far more efficient at oxygen production than the first stage grass and have been introduced in the last fifteen years. No animal life yet exists on Mars.
Other: Mars is the capital of the Martian United Government, terraforming efforts stopped at the time of the solar war some 400 years ago, but restarted roughly 200 years ago. The planet itself lacks a proper magnetic field and as a result will require constant supervision for as long as its new atmosphere is in place.

Culture: Unity represents the heart of Martian culture. Studded with large parks and shrines to various gods Unity seems to almost betray its name. However the founding mantra of Unity was that the many shall form the whole, indivisible by any means. That mantra has remained the center of Unity and of Mars as a whole. Though containing many cultures and ideas Martians keep to a strong sense of social responsibility and tightly knit community. Unity itself exemplified this ideal, and community activities are often large events frequented by thousands.
Infrastructure: Unity exists as a dome 100 kilometers in diameter and 5 in height. Being 40 kilometers under the surface of the planet and adjacent to Olympus Mons the city is heated geothermally from the small remaining lava there and has water pumped in from reservoirs created by the rare but present volcanic activity. The city itself uses a vast holographic projection system under a large reinforced plate to project an artificial blue sky, though the dome is so large weather systems exist, drawing on water from the many green spaces and lakes in the city. The city is extremely large, taking up the entire area of the dome save the parks and is based around The Spire, an enormous structural support at the center of the dome that extends into the ceiling itself. Though reinforced much of the pillar is rock, this however is rarely seen as the outside of it is covered in a light grey metal. 
History: The construction of Unity began some fifty years after the Solar War. Mars was in ruins and the survivors had made makeshift underground shelters spread across the planet. Unity began as a super deep experiment, to build a colony so deep underground that no bunker buster could penetrate it, Unity was beyond all else a dream of security and a future for all those scattered Martians. For the first forty years of its history that was all Unity was; a dream. In truth a network of tunnels had been created and the people had flocked to the security of the colony. However forty years was not long, and Unity was far from significant beyond the curious detail of its depth. Yet it was forty years after the war that the combined survivors of Mars decided to name Unity the capital of the new Martian United Government. The reasoning was to make an unassailable fortress of a city, and the plan for the immense city that now stand materialized not long after. Taking 230 years to build unity was completed 320 years after the Solar War. Far from the only city on Mars Unity still remained the largest and most significant, which many other cities mimicking the cities layout on a far smaller scale.
