I imagined Rui in a Persona Arena game to have a stance system, drawn blade and sheathed blade. Starts battle sheathed. He uses a sword with the sheath, and when his sword is unsheathed, his normals are faster and have rekka on them, and his Persona attacks will be slower, but while his blade is sheathed, he'll have faster Persona attacks and slower normals without rekka, but have higher range instead.

So he can go footsies rushdown, as a result he'll be lacking in long and fullscreen skills outside of his SP skills.
