Frozen for a moment from the shock of the attack, Maele hurried to grab her spear and help her friend. The attacking girl raised her blade above him, and Maele realised she wouldn't be able to cross the distance between them in time. Hefting the spear in her hand, she pulled back, and threw it with all her might. It hit the girl in the shoulder, not the best shot, but enough to knock her off her feet. Sprinting, Maele closed the distance between them and pushed the girl to the ground, using her weight to pin her in place. But having thrown her spear; she was without a weapon, she would have to make the kill with her bare hands. The girl struggled beneath Maele, the sword she had been carrying lost when the spear hit her. Her eyes were frenzied; fear and anger fighting for control. "I can't kill her." Maele said, not releasing the tribute, but not hurting her either. "Not like this."
