The morning wind blew through Vis's hair as he stood at the stern of his ship, the Wind Walker. Vis had been up well before the sunrise. His swords rested in a sash around his waist. His hands rested on the hilts of the katanas as he stared out at the sea. The waves were glinting in the early morning as they hit the docks. Vis reacted quickly when heard a creek in the wood of his deck. Gurikari flew out of it's sheath and towards the man who had intruded on his peace, it was one of his crew members."What have I told you about coming to me in the mornings?" Vis said calmly to the man, one of his deck hands. The deck hand sputtered and tried to answer but was too afraid of the blade that rested a few inched from his throat. Vis lowered the blade and turned away, the audible sound of scuffling made him smile. It was the main issue Vis had with his crew, they were too careless. He had told them that they shouldn't sneak up on them and quite a few of them didn't. But those who did often left about as soon as they made port. In the last week, his crew has gone down from eighteen to twelve. Vis had posted notices all around Lougetown but he wasn't the only one looking for crew members. Other, ships that were better known were getting the majority of the people. But today was Vis's chance to get more people. There would be plenty of rookies here, in the town that Gol D. Roger was born and killed, to prove themselves to more experienced crews. Of course, smaller crews like Vis's were looking for members but they were rarely noticed by anybody. The music which had been playing for a few seconds came to an end and Vis took a step towards the gang plank. The time had come for Vis to go looking for new members of his crew. Several of his crew members were leaving the ship to go to a tavern or to go looking for a new crew, he wasn't sure which was more likely. He wasn't sure he liked this way of recruiting but he had to admit that it was effective. It weeded out the weak and left only those who were strong. Vis was likely to compete against one or two recruits but he wouldn't want to perform with his full abilities, he shouldn't be the one to humiliate them. Vis passed by a few restraunts, bars and taverns on his way to the center of town but found no intrest in them other than a few which seemed to be frequented by violent pirates. The rising sun seemed to make people wake up as more and more people started to gather in the streets, many of them going the same direction as Vis. Today was going to be a day full of battles, injuries and humiliations as rookie fought rookie in attempts to prove themselves to the elite crews. But Vis wasn't looking for the strongest or smartest people, he was looking for crew members who were dedicated and loyal. After all, strength isn't measured by how powerful you are but how dedicated you are to protecting your cause. For Vis, his strength came from his dedication to protect innocent people and he was looking for people who were willing to do the same. "Its not about your physical strength son but the strength of your morals that has made you strong. This blade, Gurikari, is a weapon of honor and whenever blood has been spilt by it, it has been for an honorable cause. You are to carry on this honor."Vis's father had said this to him the day he had recived Gurikari. He intended to keep the blade clean of innocent blood, in the name of his father.
