Sorry, I will rephrase, they will safely crash anywhere that does not kill anyone or damage structures. However, this means they would land on a roadway or a field.

Edit: Do the Explorer ships have a Bridge that has a large... well... windshield, of sorts? Or is it just camera's? Either one works.
