Welcome and don't worry about not knowing much. I, as I said, am not an expert, nor will I be quizzing anyone. If you have a general sense of the feel of A) fairy tales and B) a fantasy Russian/Slavic setting, then you are fine. Reading some tales can't hurt for certain, there are plenty all over the internet, but it is by no means required. 

I'm going to make a thread in the General interest checks to see about drumming up some more interest.
