Maria listened with interest to the introductions provided by various people in the room and to Omega's instructions. Maria had never been too fond of the partner system, considering that she was rarely paired up with anyone she enjoyed being around, which probably one of the higher-up's doing. None of them really appreciated her talent for spreading news, not that Maria cared. She was effective in the field, and she knew it-as did the other members of the agency. They could put up with her big mouth. In fact, the last partner Maria had was a lanky vampire who altogether despised Maria's incessant chatter. It had been truly a challenge to work with him on the occasions both of them were needed. Though she had tried her best to get along with him, the vampire made it clear from the start that he was not happy about the arrangement. Not happy at all. Eventually, the vampire had been assigned a new partner to the relief of both him and Maria. So Maria didn't happen to have a partner at the time of the meeting, and she wondered idly if she was to be given a new partner after all. Seeing as no one else was volunteering to make some introductions, Maria stood up and decided she could tell the various species assembled in the conference hall a little about herself. "I'm Maria Martinez, and I'm just one of your average human beings. No special powers of the sort, no strings attached. I grew up in Iowa, but my family is originally from Guatemala. Let's see....I've been with the bureau of supernatural affairs for around five years now, so I'm no newbie though I attend these meetings if I can just to meet the new recruits. I can just say that you guys should enjoy your time here and to stay out of the way of the cranky janitor who wanders through the halls at odd times of the day. If any of you are interested in having a nice chat one day, feel free to stop by my cubicle on the third floor." Noticing Omega's disapproving stare, Maria hurriedly concluded her introduction. "If you like the quiet and silence, I am not the right person for you," she said with a slight chuckle and sat down again, waiting for the others to continue with the introductions.
