Well, maybe from here on out Sato can just refer her by her surname? As a way of distancing himself from her? And when your Akiko is mentioned just make it abundantly clear it's your Akiko by mentioning her full name, or giving other indications etc.

Just a suggestion. Changing things can be a pain.
